Crystal Palace's Speroni and Delaney sign new deals, Adebayor released

Crystal Palace's Julian Speroni and Damien Delaney have signed new contracts to remain at Selhurst Park for a further 12 months until 2017, while Emmanuel Adebayor has been released by the club.

The future of goalkeeper Speroni, 37, had been the subject of speculation during the past season after he lost his place in Alan Pardew's first XI and was at one point third choice.

He has played 388 times since joining the Eagles in 2004, equalling John Jackson's club appearance record as a goalkeeper in all competitions on the final day of the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.

As Palace's longest-serving player, it is expected he will set a new record at some point during the next season.

Centre-back Delaney joined Palace in 2012 while Dougie Freedman was manager and has remained a regular starter since making the first of his 157 appearances.

Adebayor, Marouane Chamakh, Brede Hangeland, Adrian Mariappa, Paddy McCarthy and Chris Kettings, meanwhile, have all been released by Palace, with their contracts having expired.

Adebayor arrived in January on a short-term contract until the end of the season, when an option was in place to extend that commitment for a further 12 months.

He had already spoken of the likelihood he would leave, having made little impact during his time at Palace, during which he scored once in 15 appearances.

Chamakh, in contrast, scored 10 goals in 66 games to contribute much to them avoiding relegation in 2014 and 2015. He rarely featured during the past 12 months, though, because of an ongoing hamstring problem.

Mariappa, Hangeland and McCarthy all leave having made 49, 29 and 151 first-team appearances respectively, while Kettings had made none.

Finally, development players Keshi Anderson, Randell Williams, Andre Coker and Luke Croll have all signed new contracts with the club.
