Crystal Palace fine midfielder Chung-Yong Lee over Alan Pardew criticism

Crystal Palace midfielder Chung-Yong Lee will be fined by the club after criticising the style and methods of manager Alan Pardew.

Lee, 27, has been used sparingly over the last two seasons at Palace and revealed his dissatisfaction with Pardew during an interview with Sports Seoul last week.

"Pardew runs the team with very short-term vision," the South Korean said. "We have a great squad, but he plays the same players again and again until someone gets injured.

"Then his replacement cannot play well because he is playing for the first time in two months. I think that's why we have not done well in the latter half of season.

"I have a contract with Crystal Palace until 2018, but I don't have any reason to stay here next season. I think I should try to talk to other clubs."

Pardew told reporters during his news conference for Saturday's game against Stoke City that Lee will be fined by the club for his remarks.

"He was wrong about a few things and will be fined," Pardew said. "You can't criticise the manager or other players publicly here. I hope this is a lesson to other players."

Palace are 16th in the table with two games remaining and highly likely to avoid the drop before taking on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 21.
