Copa Libertadores: Gustavo Bou stars for Racing Club again

Gustavo Bou scored a hat trick for the second successive Copa Libertadores match as Racing Club made it two wins out of two in Group 8 by hammering Paraguayan side Guarani 4-1.

Bou bagged a treble in his side's 5-0 triumph at Deportivo Tachira last time out and the 25-year-old forward started the rot on Tuesday, opening the scoring in the 43rd minute.

The reigning Argentinian champions doubled their lead three minutes after the interval when Washington Camacho teed up Diego Milito to score although Federico Santander narrowed the deficit just after the hour.

But that proved to be a false down for Guarani as quickfire goals in the 78th and 81st minutes from Bou sealed a comprehensive victory for Racing Club.

"We must keep this path in order to see how far we can get,'' Racing Club coach Diego Cocca told Fox Sports. "We won the Argentinian league and started the Copa Libertadores in better form. The team wants more. This is a difficult competition and home and away ties come after the group stage.''

Also in Group 8, Peruvian giants Sporting Cristal and Deportivo Tachira of Venezuela played out a 1-1 draw in Lima.

Carlos Lobaton opened the scoring in the 26th minute for the hosts but Cesar Gonzalez's 86th-minute free-kick rescued a point for Tachira.

However, they were grateful for goalkeeper Alan Liebeskind, who saved Renzo Sheput's penalty in injury time.

Emelec marked coach Gustavo Quinteros' final match at the helm in style as they eased to a 3-0 win over Bolivian side The Strongest in Group 4.

Quinteros is set to become Ecuador's national coach but he signed off in the perfect manner, with first-half goals from Miller Bolanos and Mauro Fernandez setting Emelec on their way to victory.

In the 69th minute, midfielder Angel Mena finished a Robert Burbano cross from the right as the Ecuadorian side made it two wins from two in the group.

Argentinian side Huracan and Mineros of Venezuela played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their Group 3 opener.

Zamir Valoyes opened the scoring for Mineros midway through the first half and put them ahead again from the spot with eight minutes remaining after Lucas Villarruel had equalised for Huracan on the half hour.

But Eduardo Dominguez rescued a point for the hosts with his spot-kick two minutes from time.
