Alexis Sanchez posts more horror pics of ankle, says injury is getting better

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez says his injured ankle is getting better, but it's still forcing him to stay in bed during his holiday.

The Chile striker posted more pictures on social media of his bruised and swollen ankle on Thursday, along with a close-up of the tackle that caused the damage during Sunday's Copa America final.

Sanchez, who is vacationing in New York and had previously posted a photo of his view overlooking Central Park, wrote: "Fourth day of my vacation, locked in the boring hotel ... But I'm much better now."

His ankle still looks horrifically bruised, but the swelling does appear to have gone down compared to the initial photos he posted of the injury on Monday:

Sanchez had to be taken off during extra time of the final, which Chile went on to win on penalties against Argentina, after Gabriel Mercado stepped on his ankle as he was trying to break into the area.

He was still named the best player of the tournament after scoring three goals and adding two assists in two games as Chile won the Copa America title for the second year in a row.

And Sanchez, who is known of his relentless energy and work ethic, seems to be keeping his spirits high despite being confined to a bed.

He tweeted another message that read: "Your body can handle almost everything. It is your mind that you have to convince."
