Chile and Colombia Copa semifinal delayed over two hours by weather

CHICAGO -- The Copa America semifinal between Colombia and Chile has resumed after an extended weather delay due to lightning in the vicinity of Soldier Field.

A line of storms rolled through the area about two hours before the game on Wednesday night, but cleared out in plenty of time for the teams to play the first half. But organizers asked the crowd to seek shelter at halftime, and then lightning was followed by sheets of rain at the home of the NFL's Chicago Bears.

Chile led 2-0 at halftime and it was initially unclear when the second half would begin.

A CONCACAF spokesperson said that if tournament organizers decide the game can't be finished tonight, then it will resume at the start of the second half at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday.

The winner will face Argentina in the championship game Sunday in New Jersey.
