Filipe Luis: Brazil must take Uruguay's Copa America exit as a warning

Filipe Luis says Uruguay's early elimination from the Copa America should serve as a warning to Brazil.

Group-stage defeats to both Mexico and Venezuela mean the most successful country in the competition's history have already been knocked out.

Brazil have still yet to secure a quarterfinal slot, with one Group B game remaining against Peru on Sunday, and Filipe Luis is determined that they don't join Uruguay in going home early.

"Uruguay's elimination serves as a warning. It's a complicated competition, everyone wants to win and there is no easy game," Filipe Luis told reporters.

"Uruguay have a great team but ended up losing their first game -- obviously they felt the absence of Suarez. But we are in a good moment, we are growing every day. I believe that we are more prepared than anyone."

Philippe Coutinho could be key to Brazil's chances of making the last eight, having struck a hat trick during Wednesday's 7-1 rout of Haiti.

"Playing with Coutinho is easy," Filipe Luis said. "He's a very quick player who dribbles well.

"He knows how to play out wide, and my job is not just to go past and help him, it's also to give the greatest number of passes to him in space around the opposition right-back.

"I have an understanding with him, I know the movements he likes to make, but firstly my function is defensive."
