Injury hits Slovenia's Azzurri hopes

Slovenia's hopes of earning a point against group leaders Italy in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday have been hit by the loss of captain and key defender Aleksander Knavs who has a knee injury.

"The absence of Knavs, who is our best defensive player, is a huge handicap but we will still try to play well as we did in the last two matches in the hope that we do not lose," said Uros Stanic, spokesman for the Slovenia Soccer Association.
