Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas ruled out for Gold Cup
Costa Rica will be without goalkeeper Keylor Navas for the 2015 Gold Cup.
The Real Madrid stopper has suffered from tendinitis in his Achilles' heel, and has returned to Madrid for possible surgery.
"Keylor won't be with us for the tournament," confirmed Costa Rica manager Paulo César Wanchope on Wednesday.
"I think he has two options," he continued, "undergo a course of treatment, or surgery."
Navas, who was a fundamental piece of Costa Rica's surprising World Cup run to the quarterfinals last summer, was going to be counted upon again during this summer's CONCACAF showpiece.
"It's a shame," said Wanchope. "Keylor will now need to travel back to Spain so that he can be examined by Real Madrid's medical team; they will decide what treatment he needs."
