Vancouver Whitecaps beat Sporting KC; Pachuca roll versus Police United

The Vancouver Whitecaps beat Sporting Kansas City 3-0 to take control of Group C of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday night.

The teams had just met in Major League Soccer action on Saturday, with SKC coming out 2-0 winners, but it was the Canadian hosts who had the upper hand in the CCL rematch.

The game was almost over before it started, with Cristian Techera heading home in the eighth minute from a Erik Hurtado cross.

Hurtado would go from provider to scorer just minutes later as Vancouver doubled its lead when Russell Teibert found his teammate on the counter-attack.

Techera added his second goal of the night in the 64th minute to seal the win for Vancouver and put them on six points with two games remaining in group play.

In Group E, Pachuca scored three second-half goals to ease past Police United and improve its chances of advancing to the elimination rounds.

Erick Aguirre, Hirving Lozano and Jonathan Urretaviscaya all scored for the Liga MX club, who extended its group lead over Olimpia.

Alianza FC and Antigua played to a 1-1 draw in Group F, a result that sees MLS outfit New York Red Bulls stay atop the group.

Oscar Guerrero scored for the hosts in the 58th minute, but Antigua levelled in the 75th minute when Mauro Portillo slotted home from the center of the penalty area.
