Brad Evans converted a penalty kick in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a shock 2-1 comeback victory over Olimpia of Honduras in a CONCACAF Champions League game Wednesday night. The penalty kick was awarded when Sounders defender Dylan Remick was taken down just inside the penalty area by Arnold Peralta. Evans drove his shot into the right side, with goalkeeper Noel Valladares going the opposite way. The final whistle came immediately after Olimpia kicked off following the goal. Erik Friberg tied it for Seattle on a header in the 90th minute. Before scoring, the Sounders had had six near-misses, including two shots off the post. Alberth Ellis scored for Olimpia in the fifth minute. Seattle took the lead in the three-team group. Vancouver is second, and Olimpia third. Club America also won in dramatic fashion as Michael Arroyo scored in the 71st minute to give his team a 1-0 victory over Nicaraguan club Walter Ferretti. America dominated possession and shots on goal, but couldn't break through in their Group E match. The Liga MX club are perfect thus far in their attempt to defend last season's CCL title win. Miguel Aguilar scored in the 85th minute as D.C. United opened CONCACAF Champions League play with a 1-0 victory over Arabe Unido on Wednesday night. United coach Ben Olsen missed the Group H game to serve a suspension for his actions in the Washington's club final game of the 2014-15 competition. Arabe Unido dropped to 1-1 after beating Jamaica's Montego Bay 3-0 on Aug. 5.
