More CONCACAF success for MLS

After the Portland Timbers took home a CONCACAF Champions League win on Tuesday night, both D.C. United and the Montreal Impact won their respective CCL tilts on Wednesday.

DC United beat Jamaican National Premier League side Waterhouse 1-0  to secure their side's first CCL win in the squad's first game.

Eddie Johnson scored in the fifth minute and that was all the home team needed for the victory. This was Waterhouse's second game of the CCL tournament after beating Panamanian side Tauro in their first Group 4 match.

The win moves United into first in Group 4 with a game in hand over Waterhouse. Next up, United will play Waterhouse in Jamaica on Sept, 16.

There was more good news for MLS as the Montreal Impact topped El Salvador squad CD FAS 3-2 on the road. The win was Impact's second of the CCL against CD FAS after winning 1-0 in Montreal on Aug. 5.

Andres Romero and Marco Di Vaio put the Impact up 2-0 before the 10-minute mark of the game, only to see CD FAS draw level with goals from Marcio Teruel and Jorge Moran. Di Vaio scored his second goal of the game in the 60th minute from the penalty spot to put Montreal up for good.

The Impact are squarely in first place of Group 3 with two wins as they ready for their next group match against fellow MLS side New York Red Bulls on Sept. 16.
