Cam Weaver's 2 goals lift Dynamo

HOUSTON -- Cam Weaver scored twice to lead the Houston Dynamo to a 2-1 win over Panama's Arabe Unido on Tuesday night in the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Houston takes over the lead in Group 1 with a 1-0-1 record and four points, while Arabe Unido falls to second with a 1-1-0 record and three points.

Weaver gave the Dynamo a 2-1 lead in the 76th minute. Warren Creavalle kept a ball alive on the left box and passed it to Brad Davis, who crossed it into the right goalkeeper's box where Weaver hit a diving header inside the near post.

Weaver tied the score 1-1 in the 23rd, taking a cross from Corey Ashe from the left side and sending a right-footed shot into the middle of the net from the upper goalkeeper's box.

Arabe Unido missed a chance to tie in the 82ndas Orlando Rodriguez had his shot from the upper left box slowed with a kick save by Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall. Enrico Small tried to put the rebound into the empty net, but Ashe made a sliding save to keep the Dynamo in front 2-1.

Arabe Unido took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on a penalty kick by Abdiel Arroyo, who sent the ball inside the near post. Arroyo earned the penalty kick a minute earlier when he was pushed down in the box by Michael Chabala after fighting for possession.

Hall kept the deficit at one in the 15th minute, knocking Humberto Ward's breakaway attempt from 14 yards out of bounds.
