The Vancouver Whitecaps and Sporting Kansas City have been drawn together in the same group for the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League.

CONCACAF held the draw for the 2016-17 edition of the competition in Miami Beach on Monday night.

The four teams each from the United States and Mexico were separated into each of the eight groups, meaning the Whitecaps, who qualified by winning the 2015 Canadian Championship, were guaranteed to be drawn with either a fellow MLS side or a team from Liga MX.

MEXICO CITY -- With goals from Osvaldo Martinez from the spot and Michael "Miky" Arroyo, America defeated Tigres by a final score of 2-1 in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final, with the aggregate score of 4-1 sealing a second consecutive CCL title for Las Aguilas.

It was the first trophy for manager Ignacio "Nacho" Ambriz since taking over at America and earns the team a spot at the Club World Cup in December.
