Match Commentary

96' Well I never! That is one of the best climaxes to a game of football I have ever laid eyes on! Turkey were two down after 62 minutes but have scored three goals in 15 minutes, including two in the final five minutes, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! They are through to face Croatia!
96' The referee's whistle goes and Turkey have come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in stoppage time! What a game! What a night!
95' The ref is coming across to have words with the Czech bench and Milan Baros gets a yellow card!
94' Ujfalusi gets a yellow after screaming at the ref when he blew for a foul. How much longer will we have left?!
94' Well, can the Czechs exploit Turkey's centre forward turned keeper? They'll have only a few minutes to do so.
93' Tuncay is going in goal!
92' More drama! Turkey's keeper has been sent off and they've used all their subs. He pushed Koller to the floor after a scramble in the box. Servet took a long ball off his keeper's hands and Jarolim nearly nodded it back into the net! I cannot believe this game!
91' Does this incredible game have any more twists and turns to give us? How muct Petr Cech be feeling?
91' Four minutes of added time...
90' Nihat, put through by Tuncay has slotted a superb shot past Cech and Turkey have won an absolute thriller!
90' GOAL! Turkey have won it!
88' Well I never. That is just unbelievable! One of the world's best keeper's has dropped a clanger and an historic penalty shoot out awaits! What a game!
87' Amazing! Altintop whips in a cross, Cech is at full stretch but drops it and Nihat bundles it over the line! Amazing!
87' GOAL! Nihat scores after a blunder from Petr Cech!
86' And again Colin KR has a chance to cross but hits it far too firm. Terim is going to run on and belt him in a minute.
86' Colin KR pushes Fatih Terim ever closer to a massive coronary after thrashing a cross straight out of play. Oh dear. Not good.
85' Another Czech change: Sionko is off and Stanislav Vicek is on.
84' Jankulovsky goes down theatrically as Tuncay slips into him. I smell a slice of time-wasting.
83' At the other end Sionko throws himself to the deck in the penalty area but gets nothing but a look of disdain from the ref. Pathetic.
82' Ujfalusi clears Nihat's corner at the near post and as the ball is pumped back in by Altintop Servet has a free header four yards out but he hasn't got enough on it and it skims wide! Astonishing!
81' Czech change: Goal-scorer Plasil is off and Michal Kadlec is on. Turkey win a corner.
81' Galasek has been carded after pulling down Arda Turan, who has looked increasingly lively as the game has drawn on.
80' Switzerland are leading Portugal 2-0, a penalty from Yakin!
79' Servet breaks the momentum with a poor pass looking for Sabri. Trust a big ugly centre back to spoil everything.
78' COlin KR has just swung in two fantastic crosses but no-one is on the end of either of them. Turkey certainly have their tails up now. This has developed into a smashing game of football.
77' Colin KR and Turan run into each other after Turkey again found room on the inside right. That could have been a glorious chance to level things had they not collided.
76' Well, that makes things very interesting. An incisive move that, Turkey finding acres of space down the inside right channel. I think Cech will be disappointed not to have kept Turan's shot out though, by his high standards.
75' Sabri finds Altintop inside the area, he crosses and at the back post Turan gets enough on his shot to get it past Cech. Game on! Again!
75' GOAL! Arda Turan has given Turkey a lifeline!
73' Surely Koller can't be long for this game. The big man looks knackered.
72' What has happened to David Rozenhal?! My word, he's just run 40 yards down the field and skinned Emre Asik who brings him down and gets booked. He never did anything like that at St James Park!
71' Polak got a whack on his head following up his own effort. Servet tried to hoof the clear but got a bit of Polak's head too, and now it is bleeding. A lot.
70' Polak has hit the post! A superb cross from Sionko, and as Polak beat Servet to it at the near post his shot cannons back off the post. So close!
69' We've just seen a replay of Fatih Terim's rant at the fourth official. It looked like about 18 blood vessels in his head were about to burst.
68' The Czechs have reasserted themselves since the goal, because they hadn't hardly had a kick before then. Amazing what a bit of goal pie can do eh?
67' Tuncay tries to reduce the defocit with a flick-on but his header is right at Cech. Time running out for Turkey to find two goals. Don't count them out just yet though.
66' Switzerland have scored against Portugal thanks to Hakin Yakin.
65' Another change, this time the linesman needs a new flag because his original one is in pieces. How he managed that I don't know.
64' Turkey are fuming about the goal because they were desperately trying to get their sub on. Down to ten men, they were outnumbered at the back and their coach Fatih Terim went absolutely beserk at the fourth official when Plasil scored.
63' Just before the goal Jan Koller wasted a glorious chance when clean through, he tried to pick his spot left footed and sent the ball wide. Plasil got him out of jail less than a minute later!
62' Sionko whips in a smashing ball, Plasil barges past Hakin Balta, meets it on the half volley and Volkan can't keep it out.
62' Plasil! Goal! Czech Republic through.
60' Emre Gungor is carried off on a stretcher with his legs secured. It doesn't look good for the Turkey newcomer.
60' Emre Gungor is down, as is Servet. Not sure why. Maybe they ran into each other?
59' Oh dear, Sabri whips in a cracking ball in between defenders and keeper but no-one in a red shirt thought to attack the space in behind. Poor.
58' Can the former Sheffield United and Brighton man turn things around for Turkey?
57' Turkish change: Colin Kazim-Richards is on for Mehmet Topal.
56' Sabri ghosts past Plasil (far too easily in my opinion) but can't pick anyone out with his cross from inside the box. A good chance spurned.
55' Neat play in midfield from Tuncay. Their system looks much more fluid in this half. Again Rozenhal clears after Turan's whipped ball in.
54' Somebody has obviously grabbed hold of the Turkish lads at half time, given them a good shake and politely reminded them there is a Euro 2008 QF berth at stake. They are well on top here.
53' Nihat hammers in a free kick and as Ujfalusi slipped - Tuncay got his bonce to it but it was straight at Cech.
52' The Czechs clear and Koller has the chance to break but his ball is poor. Turkey come again and Rozenhal volleys clear a Nihat cross. The Turkish fans making themselves heard again...
51' A smashing cross from Topal forces Rozenhal to nod behind for a corner. Arda Turan wins another one.
50' Plasil casually gives the ball away and Turkey can try and build again. Much more purpose about them which begs the question; where was it in the first half?
49' Arda Turan now beats Grygera before Ujfalusi is across to deal with the threat. The rain is still teeming down, poor old JC is getting a soaking at the front of the press box!
48' A long ball from Turkey nearly bears fruit as Nihat tries a flying, Bruce Lee-style volley. A decent effort, and already a more impassioned Turkish side in the second period.
47' Oh yeah, and we're off again...
46' A Turkish change - Sabri Sarioglu is on for Semih.
45' Polak finds space in the area and has a punt for goal. A deflection gives the Czechs a corner but the whistle goes and that is half time. A deserved lead for the Czechs, and they are going through as it stands. Much more needed from Turkey in the second period. See you in 15...
44' Jarolim ignores a wealth of options during a Czech break to go wide right and give the ball away. Useless. Czech win the ball back though and Koller tries an ambitious volley on the turn.
43' Altintop tries to inject a bit of urgency down the right but overruns the ball and Cech has a goal kick.
42' Jankulovsky curls in a pacy free kick and Koller has a free header but he had his back to goal and puts it over. Could, and should, have done better.
41' Koller wins a free kick after close attention from Servet. His dive was rubbish though. It is a long way down for him mind.
40' Jarolim is straight into the action, closing down Arda Turan on the left flank.
39' Nihat swings in a free kick and Servet meets it but his header is always rising and doesn't trouble Cech.
38' Matejovsky is being stretchered from the field after a taking a knock on his knee. David Jarolim is coming on in place of him.
37' Hopefully that goal will rattle the Turks a little - they've been far too cautious to date and their reward has been going a goal down.
36' Nihat whacks in a free kick and hits Matejovsky. Corne, from which Cech has to dive and punch away from Turan after his near post defender had gone walkies.
35' That is just reward for the Czechs, who have been much the better side so far. Once again, the more adventurous side is in front and justice is done!
34' Grygera stands the ball up Koller rises above Servet and plants his header into the top corner. He might be a bug lump but he can still heed the ball. A great goal. Game on!
34' KOLLER! Goal!
33' A smashing ball in from Jankulovski finds Sionko bearing down on the ball but Volkan slides out and kills it dead with his feet! Amazing!
32' I reckon that was right on the liver. He'd better lay off the ale if Turkey get through.
31' Polak has just whacked the ball right into Altintop's ribs from about five yards away. Ouch.
30' Nihat's ball is dangerous but Koller clears - he's certainly useful when helping out at the back. As the ball is hoiked back in Servet's header is easily claimed by Cech.
29' Semih and Nihat combine before Rozenhal is across. Turkey's first corner.
28' A period of dull, midfield strangling from the Turks. They certainly aren't rushing forward, then again the Czechs are offering them little room in the middle of the park.
27' More pressing from the Czechs. Koller's touches so far have either been inspired or woeful. Surely this is his last stand...
26' Aurelio is up quick smart, the big softy. It was a firm but fair challenge.
25' Rozenhal slides in well on Aurelio who has stayed down. I think the Czech defender deserves a red for that, but only because I'm bitter at him for leaving Newcastle for Lazio. A step up? My arse.
24' Sionko cuts in on his left and has a pop. Its not far off, but also quite far off at the same time, if you know what I mean.
23' The Czech Republic have made the better, brighter start. Turkey seem content just to soak it up at the minute. A goal would alter all that though eh?
22' Smashing wing play from the Czechs. First, a wonderful one two between Plasil and Jankulovski. The latter's cross was a peach but Koller was too slow to get there, then Sionko smashes it back across goal forcing Servet to clear well.
21' Sionko breaks down the right but hesitates and is eventually crowded out. He should have driven for the box.
20' Portugal are all over the Swiss in Group A's dead rubber by the way. Pepe has hit the bar already.
19' Hakan Balta swings in a wayward ball with his right foot, taking all the steam out of Turkey's attack. Then Topal has a punt which troubles the corner flag more than the onion bag.
18' Servet may not have been booked but Turkey's central midfield pairing have. Not ideal. At all. No.
17' Matejovsky hits a knock down from Koller, hoping to catch Volkan off guard. He didn't, and the Fenerbahce keeper makes the save.
16' Middlesboro's Tuncay has a pop on goal but Petr Cech had it covered as it flashed past the post.
15' Apparently, Servet HASN'T been booked. That's HASN'T been booked people. Thanks to our British commentators for putting us straight on that one. HASN'T.
14' More pressing from the Czechs down the right but Matejovsky is denied by the linesman, who says the ball went out of play.
13' Another free kick to the Czechs as the ref continues his unbelievably biased approach. At least he didn't brandish yet another card. Clown. Yes you Peter Frojdfelt.
13' Another free kick to the Czechs as the ref continues his unbelievably biased approach. At least he didn't brandish yet another card. Clown. Yes you Peter Frojdfelt.
10' Jankulovsky finds the eight foot Koller but his header flies over the bar.
10' Now Servet gets booked after challenging Koller in the air. Why he was carded I've no idea. Free kick to Czezh Republic.
9' It's all a bit cagey so far my friends. I guess were just going to have to sit tight and wait for it to burst to life at some point, perhaps as the game nears its climax. Or maybe they've both just settled for pens already?
8' Turkey go on their first forray, down the left hand side, but options are short and the ball ends up back with their keeper Volkan.
7' The Czechs win the game's first corner after Aurelio gets in the way of Plasil's attempted centre. The short corner is poor though and Turkey breathe again.
6' The ref whips out his yellow card in a flash after a mistimed tackle from Topal sends Polak flying.
5' Servet's poor evening continues, he shanks a clearance right to Polak but is thankful to Altintop who broke up the attack. It must be his new boots.
4' Jankulovski's ball was too deep meaning Sionko and Grygera, although unmarked, couldn't reach the cross. A let off for the Turks.
3' Servet - the man whose boots caused so much consternation - has given away a free kick wide on the right. A good chance for the Czech's to pick out the freakishly tall Koller.
2' Matejovsky has the first shot on goal after only ten seconds but it curls wide. Let's hope that is a sign of things to come.
1' After yet another Turkish change of boots, we are finally ready to go - a full four minutes behind the other Group A game. Booo!
- We have a brief delay because the referee isn't happy with the studs on one of the Turkish players boots. Bizarre. Here come the teams. Fianlly.
- So, how will our teams approach the game do we think? Warily? Expansively? Doggedly? Err, attacking-ly? Let's hope its the latter. After all, the bigger the stakes, the higher the tension, the better the game usually. It'll be a 0-0 stinker now you watch. At least we'll have the excitement of pens if it is.
- One change for the Czech side, veteran beanpole striker Jan Koller elbows the puny and profligate Milan Baros out of the starting XI. And quite right too.
- So, three changes for Turkey, midfielder Mehmet Topal is in for the injured Tumer Metin while Emre Gungor lines up in central defence alongside Servet Cetin instead of Emre Asik. Semih is in at the expense of Gokdeniz Karadeniz.
- Czech Republic: Cech, Grygera, Ujfalusi, Rozehnal, Jankulovski,Sionko, Matejovsky, Galasek, Polak, Plasil and Koller. Subs: Blazek, Zitka, Kovac, Fenin, Sverkos, Vlcek, Pospech, Kadlec, Jarolim, Baros, Sivok and Skacel.
- The teams are in, and here they are, starting with Turkey: Demirel, Altintop, Gungor, Cetin, Balta, Topal, Aurelio, Turan, Sanli, Nihat and Senturk. Subs from: Rustu, Zengin, Zan, Emre, Karadeniz, Metin, Asik, Boral, Kazim-Richards, Akman, Sarioglu and Erdinc.
- Tonight we will discover who triumphs in Group A's winner takes all clash (KO 1945BST) between the Czech Republic and Turkey for a place in the quarter finals. If they are level at 90 mins then we'll be hitting uncharted waters, namely a penalty shoot out to decide who emerges as runners-up in the group. All the action is live with me, Chris Murphy.
