A simple win for Chelsea, who were streets better than Monterrey. A bigger test should lie in wait against Corinthians on Sunday.
And there goes the final whistle.
A break from Monterrey as Chelsea are left short at the back. De Nigris cuts inside from the right wing, goes for goal himself and beats Cech neatly.
GOAL Jesús De Nigris
I'm not expecting too much excitment in these final two minutes.
Two minutes to be added on.
Manchester United are the only English side to be crowned Club World Champions. Can Chelsea emulate them on Sunday?
There's been some sloppy passing from both sides in the last 15 minutes.
Lampard turns well and is always going to shoot from 20+ yards. It may as well have been 20+ yards over.
Monterrey just haven't had the composure or quality in the final third to trouble Chelsea.
Moses almost gets in through the centre, fine last-ditch tackle from Basanta
Moses beats his two men on the right but can't pick out a team-mate and he sees his cross headed back out by a defender.
Final two changes for Monterrey. Abraham Darío Carreño and Edgar Solís on for Severo Meza and César Delgado
It will soon be time for Monterrey to hit the road, Jack.
Cross from Cardozo is poor once again, and Cahill chests the ball back to Cech.
Victor Moses will get 10 minutes in place of Fernando Torres.
Basanta looks to be struggling from that challenge, he's be wanting to complete the game and play on Sunday too.
Foul by Ferreira on Basanta.
This is the last year of Paulo Ferreira's contract, and with Wallace arriving in the summer you would presume this is his swansong season.
The corner it eventually worked into the box at the far, and Corona is free but can only blast a shot way up into the night sky.
Paulo Ferreira comes on for Juan Mata
De Nigris is picked out in the area, his first touch opens up space for the shot but Cahill does well to get in a block - corner.
Chelsea now preserving their energy for Sunday's final against Corinthians.
Again a threaded pass is too heavy, this time for De Nigris, and Cech takes possession.
Shot from Delgado from inside the D, but no worry for Cech who collects low down to his left.
Nice to see Monterrey goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco wearing a pair of old school jogging bottoms.
Cardozo tries to feed in Delgado through the centre - the pass was on but it's too much on it and Cech can watch it behind for a goal kick.
Monterry will still have another game to play here, they will face Al Ahly in the 3rd/4th place play-off first up on Sunday.
A shot from Lampard goes wide of the target.
Terrible cross from Corona, who seems to have run out of steam. His cross drops into the gloves of Cech.
Huge cheers as Frank Lampard comes on in place of David Luiz.
That results in corner, it's played to the near post but only to Cole who clears.
Good play from Monterry, Cahill having to be smart at the near post to cut out a ball across the face.
Coming soon: Super Frank, Super Goals.
You can't see anyway back into this game for Monterrey now, they are way too fragile at the back to be able to pour forward and get three without reply.
Cardozo is not happy as the offside flag goes up against him, he was ready to run at Azpilicueta
Sergio Perez is replaced by the experienced campaigner Ricardo Osorio
The corner comes in from the right, Cahill can't get proper purchase on the header and eventually Monterrey clear.
Mata plays in Torres on the right of goal - it's a horrible first touch from the striker which takes the ball away from him but Chelsea still end up with a corner off the defender's shins.
Corona has the measure of Azpilicueta again, but this time it results in a corner. It comes in from the left, De Nigris is free and seems certain to score - Cech keeps it out.
Not sure if Torres will actually keep the first goal as it was definitely going wide before being deflected in. One for FIFA to decide.
Oscar feeds in Mata, who is through but fires into the side-netting - he was offside anyway.
Chelsea running riot at the moment, though that does mean we are likely to face a lethargic last quarter of the game.
David Luiz shoots from outside the box and the keeper has to palm away down low rather than hold.
What a start to the second half this is, and in between those two goals Monterrey also had a break into the Chelsea box.
Torres finds Mata with a superb ball with the outside of his right boot - for some reason Mata passes back across the face of goal rather than shooting only for the ball to get tangled in Chávez's feet and roll into the goal. 0-3
GOAL OWN GOAL
Cole makes a run down the left, cust the ball back for Torres who sees his shot take a massive deflection to leave the keeper with no chance.
GOAL FERNANDO TORRES
Chelsea kick off.
Juan Mata scores for Chelsea
I'll be back for the second half, don't forget you can follow me on Twitter @dalejohnsonESPN
Chelsea have definitely been the better side, but have switched off since Mata broke the deadlock and while Chelsea remain one goal up there's still a way back for Monterrey.
And that's half-time, Chelsea take a lead into the interval.
One minute to be added on.
Mata takes, it goes over all the blue shirts and Monterrey can work it away.
Corner to Chelsea right on half-time.
Chelsea enjoying some possession at last, time to start keeping the ball a bit more.
Much better from Monterrey, they just need to be more clinical in front of goal. A shot on target would be a start.
Ayovi takes his turn on the left flank up against Azpilicueta. Again it's a poor cross - fired straight out of play.
Monterrey take it short over on the right, it's worked back into the box by Corona and De Nigris gets there first but once again can only head wide.
The ball comes back across the goal, Azpilicueta has to put it behind for a corner.
Corono gets the better of Azpilicueta once again, but can only lift his cross over De Nigris.
Foul by Meza, Mikel tripped on the half-way line.
I wish I could report more was happening in this game right now.
This has allowed Monterrey, but whether they have the ability to open up Chelsea is another question.
This now has the feel of a pre-season friendly, Chelsea's high-tempo game of the last 20 miniutes has subsided.
Stat: Only one member of the Chelsea team has not reached double figures for international caps - the uncapped César Azpilicueta.
Mikel has a rare shot on goal from 30 yards but unsurprisingly it's always going wide
Better from Monterrey there, Corona switched to the right to take on Azpilicueta.
Monterrey break from that, Corona does well to get past Azpilicueta - his lofted ball to the near post is met by the head of Cardozo, but he can't nod it on target.
Foul by Oscar on that very man, Ayovi.
Stats: Only three Monterrey players have reached double figures for caps, with Ecuador's Walter Ayoví (73) accounting for over half the team's caps
Frank Lampard is on the bench for Chelsea today, and will hope to make his second appearance since being injured against Shakhtar two months ago.
It's certainly been a mismatch so far, Monterrey are going to have to improve considerably to meet Corinthians in the final on Sunday.
Stat: The Chelsea team has a total of 486 international appearances between them, Monterrey has just 138.
Chelsea break well again but Mata is caught in a moment of indecision, his eventual pass too heavy for Torres and out for a goal kick.
It's essentially a corner, Mata takes it right footed and Ivanovic climbs highest - but he couldn't keep his header down.
Foul by Sergio, a free-kick over by the left corner flag.
Superb play by Oscar, who feeds in Cole with a sublime back-heel - Cole picks out the unmarked Mata just inside the box and he perfectly guides a shot past Jonathan Orozco for the opening goal.
GOAL JUAN MATA
Mata almost manages to feed Torres in through the centre but for a last-ditch interception.
Monterrey got here after beating Santos Laguna 3-2 on aggregate in the final of the 2011-12 Concacaf Champions League.
The corner comes in from the left, Ivanovic gets there first six yards from goal and somehow sends it wide. That should have been a goal.
Awful defending from Meza as he miscontrols on the edge of his own box almost lets Oscar in with a chance - he gets back to toe the ball behind for a corner.
The corner comes in from the right once again, this time Chelsea clear.
Delgado takes the corner to the edge of the six-yard box, Basanta goes for it but Cahill is there to head behind.
Delgado shoots from 25 yards and it's deflected behind for a corner.
Brilliant from Hazard, skipping past two on the left and picking out Oscar in the centre - for some reason he tries to chest the ball down rather than head towards goal and he loses it.
De Nigirs gets forward for Monterrey, his shot on the angle effectively a back-pass to Cech.
It's all Chelsea in the opening exchanges, the European Champions well on top.
Hazard is played through on goal and looked certain to score, but he curled his right-footed effort past the outside of the far post.
Torres tries to escape his man but Perez gets in front of the Chelsea man to guide the ball back to his keeper.
Ooooh! Good effort from Luiz who moves the ball forward but hits it over the bar - close
Monterrey have already played a game here, beating Ulsan Hyundai 3-1 in Sunday's quarter-final. Will that make any difference?
Mata with an early chance for Chelsea, his shot on the angle easily blocked. The ball comes back in but Torres had no hope of directing a header towards goal.
It's Monterrey who kick off.
The Club World Cup moves to Morocco from next December for a two year run.
Thousands of empty seats around the stadium for one of FIFA's key game of the football calendar.
Out come the players in Yokohama, Petr Cech leading Chelsea from the tunnel.
Chelsea will be hoping for a better performance today than they put in for the European Super Cup, when were thrashed 4-1 by Atletico Madrid.
I'll be back for full coverage of the game, don't forget you can follow me on Twitter @dalejohnsonESPN
Monterrey team to face Chelsea: Orozco; Perez, Mier, Basanta, Chavez; Meza, Ayovi, Cardozo; Corona, Delgado, De Nigris.
Mikel, suspended back home in England, starts as well and the rest of the line-up is a very attacking one.
So no return to the starting line-up just yet for Frank Lampard - and surprisingly it's David Luiz who gets a midfield slot. Many fans have suggested this should be tried in the past.
Chelsea team to face Monterrey: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Luiz, Mikel, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Torres
Chelsea make their debut in the Club World Cup against Monterrey, winners of the Concacaf Champions League.
