MLS veteran Ricardo Clark signs with Columbus Crew SC

Veteran MLS midfielder Ricardo Clark signed with Columbus Crew SC as a free agent on Friday.

Clark, 34, comes to Columbus after a second stint with the Houston, where he'd played since 2012.

"We are excited Ricardo chose to join our club as a free agent signing this winter," Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said. "Ricardo brings over a decade of MLS and national team experience to our club, which was one of the youngest in the league last season.

"He is a consistent winner in MLS and adds important depth in our central midfield as we look to return to the MLS Cup playoffs in the upcoming season."

The former U.S. international began his career in MLS in 2004 and moved to Houston in 2006, helping the club win two MLS Cups.

He then moved on to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, starting 13 Bundesliga games over three seasons, along with a loan to Stabaek in Norway, before returning to Houston.

Clark played in 33 games for the U.S., including an appearance at the 2010 World Cup.
