Columbus Crew SC look to reclaim last season's Eastern Conference Champion form as they take on a struggling, but potent New York City FC squad in Week 7. (3:52)

Columbus Crew SC defender Tyson Wahl will not have to serve a suspension after the punishment was rescinded following a case of mistaken identity last Saturday.

New York City FC were awarded a penalty after Wahl denied Kwadwo Poku a clear goal-scoring opportunity, but referee Ted Unkel then dismissed Michael Parkhurst by mistake.

MLS already rescinded the red card to Parkhurst earlier this week and assigned the accompanying suspension and fine to Wahl.

Crew SC has now successfully appealed Wahl's punishment the Independent Review Panel, made up of representatives from the referees organization, U.S. Soccer and the Canadian Soccer Association.

Both Wahl and Parkhurst will be eligible to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
