Columbus Crew SC look to reclaim last season's Eastern Conference Champion form as they take on a struggling, but potent New York City FC squad in Week 7. (3:52)

Columbus Crew SC defender Michael Parkhurst has had his red card rescinded by Major League Soccer following a case of mistaken identity on Saturday.

Referee Ted Unkel awarded New York City FC a penalty after Columbus defender Tyson Wahl denied Kwadwo Poku a clear goal-scoring opportunity, but then dismissed Parkhurst.

The official noted his mistake in his match report, prompting Monday's action by the league.

MLS ruled that Wahl will serve the one-game suspension against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday instead of Parkhurst.

Columbus has also appealed the red card decision in hopes Wahl's punishment will also be rescinded.
