Freddy Rincon wanted in Panama for drug-related charges - Interpol

Former Real Madrid, Colombia and Corinthians midfielder Freddy Rincon is wanted for questioning in relation to drug-related charges, Interpol have said.

Interpol's website details that Rincon, 48, is wanted by authorities in Panama for allegedly being involved in money-laundering and criminal conspiracy relating to drugs.

"Rincon was detained at his residence and will remain in a Sao Paolo jail until Brazil courts make a decision about his extradition to Panama," a spokesperson for the Brazil federal police told the Spanish news agency, Efe.

Rincon, who lives in Brazil and during the first few months of this year was coaching at Club Sao Bento, is being questioned over his alleged involvement with Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Rayo Montano, according to Efe. The two were childhood friends, the report said.

Rincon played for Real in 1995-96 while he had two spells at Corinthians, where he won the Club World Cup.

He represented Colombia at the 1994 World Cup and retired from playing football in 2004.
