Roberto Martinez backs Axel Witsel for Belgium despite Chinese league move

With the CSL transfer window shut, will we see Wayne Rooney or Ashley Young head to China in June?
Axel Witsel has played in all four of Belgium's 2018 World Cup qualifying matches to date.

Roberto Martinez believes Axel Witsel can remain a key part of his Belgium side despite seemingly sacrificing his international career by moving to China.

Witsel joined Tianjin Quanjian in a €20 million move from Zenit St Petersburg in January, and will earn a reported €18m annually over the three years of his contract.

However Christian Eriksen gave Tottenham early hope in the 10th minute, levelling the tie with a calm finish...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hat trick carries Man United; Tottenham lose first leg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's hat trick gave Manchester United a 3-0 win against St Etienne in a Europa League round of 32 first-leg clash at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring in unusual circumstances after 15 minutes when his free kick struck the St Etienne wall and deflected towards goal leaving St Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier wrong-footed and stranded before crawling over the line.

He added an important second in the 74th minute as substitute Marcus Rashford squared from...

Players might prefer Carlo Ancelotti to Jose Mourinho - Branislav Ivanovic

ESPN FC's Craig Burley gives an in-depth analysis of how Chelsea's formation is able to be so effective.

Former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has told Sport Express that Jose Mourinho is still a special manager despite recent struggles but most footballers would rather spend their careers working under Carlo Ancelotti.

Chelsea allowed Ivanovic to join Zenit St Petersburg last week, bringing to an end a nine-year spell at Stamford Bridge that saw him make 377 appearances and win every major domestic and European trophy, as well as scoring the winning goal against Benfica in the 2013 Europa League...
