Wolves goalkeeper Aaron McCarey hit with four-month ban for drugs

Wolves keeper Aaron McCarey has also been fined by the FA.

Wolves goalkeeper Aaron McCarey has been suspended for four months by the Football Association after failing an out-of-competition drug test.

McCarey was suspended by the Sky Bet Championship club in May after testing positive for a non-performance enhancing substance.

Following the conclusion of an FA hearing this week, the sanction has been backdated to April 21 -- the date of the original suspension -- with the remaining time suspended for a two-year period.

Everton keen to sign Wolves striker Nouha Dicko - sources

Nouha Dicko has been attracting attention.

Everton are tracking Wolves striker Nouha Dicko as manager Roberto Martinez looks to add to his attacking options this summer, sources have told ESPN FC.

Dicko, 23, helped Wolves win promotion back to the Championship in his first season at the club and he finished as the club's joint-top scorer last season with 15 goals.

He is entering the final year of his contract at Molineux, with the club determined to try and keep him as they plan to mount another bid for promotion to the Premier League...

Sheffield United's Jose Baxter and Wolves' Aaron McCarey fail drugs tests

Jose Baxter has been suspended by Sheffield United after failing a drugs test.

Sheffield United midfielder Jose Baxter and Wolverhampton goalkeeper Aaron McCarey have both failed drugs tests and been placed under suspension, their clubs have announced.

A statement from Sheffield United on Saturday evening announced that "traces of a banned substance" were found when Baxter underwent Football Association testing.

Wolves said McCarey had failed a test for "a non-performance enhancing substance."

Both players protested their innocence, their clubs said.

Wolves missed out on a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs despite Nouha Dicko's double helping fire them to a 4-2 win over relegated Millwall at Molineux.

Kenny Jackett's side were agonisingly pipped to a top-six finish on goal difference after finishing level on points with Ipswich and Brentford.

Dicko had put them in control after 20 minutes and then struck again 11 minutes into the second period to take his goal tally for the season to 15.

Millwall had to soak up a lot of pressure in the...

Benik Afobe grabbed the only goal of a scrappy Sky Bet Championship game at the DW Stadium to keep Wolves in the play-off hunt and all but confirm Wigan's relegation.

The Latics live to fight another day after their 1-0 defeat, on account of relegation rivals Rotherham and Millwall only drawing.

But it would require a remarkable series of scores in the final week of the campaign for them to escape the drop into League One.

The visitors, meanwhile, are still hopeful of regaining their Premier League...
