Western Sydney veteran Brendon Santalab says it would be unfair and ridiculous if the A-League leaders had competition points deducted for the misbehaviour of some fans who "don't really love the club."

The Wanderers have until 5pm Wednesday to explain why they shouldn't be punished after some among their supporters let off flares and detonators during Saturday night's 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium.

Brendon Santalab extends Western Sydney Wanderers stay

Brendon Santalab has scored 15 goals for the Western Sydney Wanderers since 2013.

In-form Western Sydney Wanderers striker Brendon Santalab will remain with the club until at least the end of the 2017-18 season, after signing a two-year contract extension on Wednesday.

The Wanderers' good-luck charm has scored three times in his last three games and has yet to taste defeat so far in 2015-16.

Brisbane Roar ease to win as Western Sydney Wanderers leave it late

Brisbane Roar moved level on points with A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers after a 4-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.

Jade North opened the scoring for the Roar with a brave header before Jamie MacLaren doubled their lead before half-time.

Corona made it 3-0 on 59 minutes with a fine strike from outside the box and then Henrique completed the scoring from the penalty spot against Mariners, who had Harry Ascroft sent off.

Shane Smeltz strikes late for Sydney FC at Western Sydney Wanderers

A late goal from Shane Smeltz handed Sydney FC a 2-1 win over rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League.

Jacques Faty opened the scoring for the visitors on 22 minutes but the Wanderers hit back in the second half through Dario Vidosic.

Smeltz had the final say in the derby, scoring in the 90th minute with a thumping effort that put his side level on points with their second-placed opponents.
