The Western Sydney Wanderers have accepted a suspended three-point penalty and $50,000 fine on Thursday, after Football Federation Australia found them guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

The governing body has charged the club with responsibility to ensure incidents like last weekend's pyrotechnics in Melbourne are not repeated for the next 12 months, or else risk the suspended sanction being triggered.

Brendon Santalab says he's delighted to re-sign with the Wanderers for a further two years.

Western Sydney Wanderers have issued strong requests for the Football Federation Australia (FFA) to withdraw any sanctions that they may place on the club due to misconduct in the crowds during their match against Melbourne Victory on Saturday.

Western Sydney veteran Brendon Santalab says it would be unfair and ridiculous if the A-League leaders had competition points deducted for the misbehaviour of some fans who "don't really love the club."

The Wanderers have until 5pm Wednesday to explain why they shouldn't be punished after some among their supporters let off flares and detonators during Saturday night's 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium.
