Craig Cathcart optimistic over Watford fitness amid busy slate

Craig Cathcart and Watford will take on Gillingham in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Watford defender Craig Cathcart is confident his side's fitness will improve over the next few weeks.

The Hornets were leading Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday but conceded twice in the last 10 minutes to Michy Batshuayi and Diego Costa to come away empty-handed.

They will be back at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night to face Gillingham in the EFL Cup with Cathcart looking for a quick pick-me-up.

West Ham United and Watford are interested in Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat, sources close to the North East club have told ESPN FC.
