Walter Mazzarri: Watford's defeat to Man United a 'pity' after good start

Man United kept up the pressure on the top four after a comfortable win over Watford at Old Trafford.
Craig Burley says Man United's win was important to show that they're not overly-dependent on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's scoring.

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri said Saturday's loss to Manchester United was a "pity after a strong start at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial impressed on his return to the United starting lineup, scoring one and providing the other as Jose Mourinho's men comfortably ran out winners.

But Mazzarri was left frustrated by aspects of his side's display, bemoaning wasteful play in midfield.

Anthony Martial starts for Manchester United against Watford

Steve Nicol believes Man United are a far better team than they were at this point last season.
ESPN FC's Shaka Hislop ponders whether Manchester United is still a good fit for Luke Shaw.

Anthony Martial has been named in the Manchester United starting lineup for Saturday's game against Watford.

Martial has not played in the Premier League since the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Jan. 15 and The Sun had claimed on Saturday that Jose Mourinho had lost faith in the France international, but he replaces Marcus Rashford in the starting XI.

Walter Mazzarri wants to keep Tom Cleverley at Watford past the season

Late goals from Juan Zuniga and Troy Deeney continued Man United's slow start in their last meeting back in September.
Walter Mazzarri praises Watford newcomer M'Baye Niang, but says he's not ready for 90 minutes.

Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri is eager to keep Tom Cleverley at Vicarage Road beyond the end of the season.

The Hornets signed Cleverley on loan from Everton in January with a view to a permanent transfer and the midfielder has settled in quickly at his new club.

Watford have gone four Premier League matches unbeaten with Cleverley on the pitch, including back-to-back wins over Arsenal and Burnley, both of which the 27-year-old started.

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey 'bottled it' against Watford - Troy Deeney

Julien Laurens believes Arsene Wenger would sign any deal offered to him, regardless of his recent lack of success.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has criticised Aaron Ramsey for turning his back on a free kick he deflected into his own net against the Hornets, saying the Arsenal midfielder "bottled it."

Watford won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium last week after taking an early 2-0 lead, with the first goal coming after Younes Kaboul's fierce set piece deflected off Ramsey's leg and past Petr Cech.

"I think he bottled it a little bit; Ramsey's mistake was our blessing," Deeney is quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph....
