Pressure on Mazzarri increases as Watford slump to dismal Hull defeat

Walter Mazzarri insists Watford are still not safe from relegation.

Saturday's 2-0 defeat was a missed opportunity for Watford, who ended up embarrassed by 10 man strugglers Hull City. The visitors turned in a decent first half performance and at the break there seemed to be only one likely winner. Hull's opener changed the complexion of the game however, and the hapless Hornets proved unable to force a way back into the game.

Positives

On his showing, the fact that Watford have just five games left is the only plausible positive from a forgettable afternoon at...

Capoue, confident Doucoure deliver for Watford in important win over Swansea

Etienne Capoue's lone goal helped Watford past relegation-threatened Swansea.

Walter Mazzarri says he won't feel like Watford are safe until the math guarantees their Premier League survival.
Ki Sung Yueng was displeased with Swansea's continued struggles in the final third, as they fell to Watford.
Watford continued to strengthen their Premier League mid-table status with a 1-0 win over Swansea City.

A dour game with few clear-cut chances, but a 1-0 win over Swansea that all but seals Watford's place in the Premier League will be cause for celebration among the Hornets' faithful. Swansea, on the other hand, look doomed to the Championship after a limp and lacklustre display.

Mazzarri in tenuous position despite nearing safety for injury-hit Watford

Walter Mazzarri
Despite leading Watford to 10th in the Premier League, Walter Mazzarri's future as manager is uncertain.

The eyes of the footballing world are becoming increasingly focussed on Arsene Wenger, with the Arsenal boss now under unprecedented pressure from supporters and the media. It's unlikely to provide much solace to the long-serving Frenchman, but just a few metres away, over the fence at the training ground next door, there's another head coach fighting for his future.

Watford inherited their London Colney training base from Arsenal when the Gunners moved to an adjacent custom-built site, and while...

Craig Cathcart, Heurelho Gomes anchor Watford to clean sheet win over Sunderland

A solitary goal from Miguel Britos was enough to earn Watford victory over Sunderland at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

After a slow start, Watford dominated proceedings despite never being able to put the game out of Sunderland's reach in a 1-0 victory. The Hornets turned in a much improved performance while the hapless visitors look destined for the drop.

Can Man City rebound vs. Liverpool? Wenger under pressure at West Brom

The Exploding Heads break down who would win in a showdown between the cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
The ESPN FC crew present their Premier League relegation predictions, but are there any surprises from the group?

Manchester City and Arsenal are both coming off the back of embarrassing European exits, but City's will hurt more as they were ahead against Monaco. Pep Guardiola has to rouse the troops against Liverpool, who tend to disappoint against smaller clubs but should be perfectly comfortable against the Catalan and his style of play.

Arsene Wenger is under major pressure, so has to get the fans back on his side with a big win over West Brom, while Manchester United's Europa League exploits might see...
