Morecambe manager Jim Bentley remains without suspended duo Ryan Edwards and Kevin Ellison for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Walsall.

The Shrimps head into the match on the back of a comfortable 4-1 League Two victory over Notts County, with defender Edwards and midfielder Ellison serving the final game of their respective three-match bans.

Morecambe made it through to the second round last season before they were knocked out by Bury and are in for a tough night when they take on the League...

Romaine Sawyers scored twice to fire Walsall to the top of League One with a 4-0 thrashing of rock-bottom Blackpool.

Sawyers opened and completed the scoring to take his tally for the season to four, with a Tom Aldred own goal and Sam Mantom header in between.

Blackpool had actually started well and inside the first minute David Ferguson's piledriver was well-held by Saddlers goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

But Walsall were soon on top and Sawyers wasted Tom Bradshaw's assist by blazing wide from 10 yards.

Walsall knocked out another Sky Bet Championship side when they came from behind to beat previously unbeaten Brighton 2-1 at the Banks's Stadium in the second round of the Capital Cup, with teenage defender Rico Henry grabbing the priceless winner.

A Jake Forster-Caskey penalty had given the Seagulls the lead six minutes before half-time. But after Milan Lalkovic equalised, Chris O'Grady missed another spot-kick for Brighton and Henry notched an 85th-minute winner.

Walsall leapfrogged Coventry City into second place in Sky Bet League One by deservedly handing the Sky Blues their first defeat of the season with a 2-1 win at the Banks's Stadium.

Goals by Anthony Forde and Tom Bradshaw had given the Saddlers a two-goal lead before Jacob Murphy pulled one back for Coventry in a thrilling local derby.

In a lively opening, Walsall were first to threaten when Sam Mantom tried his luck from 25 yards, but Lee Burge made a comfortable save.

Walsall picked up their second successive Sky Bet League One away win with a 2-1 success over Rochdale at Spotland.

Second-half goals from Andy Taylor and Sam Mantom handed the Saddlers the spoils in this clash of two top-six sides.

Walsall, who also beat Nottingham Forest on the road in the Capital One Cup seven days earlier, went close to an opening goal in the first minute when Mantom's cross was spilled by Josh Lillis, the Dale goalkeeper then recovering well to keep out shots from Kieron Morris...
