Walsall came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.

Tom Bradshaw equalised for the Saddlers just a few minutes after Chris O'Grady had opened the scoring for the hosts.

Jose Baxter went close in first-half stoppage time with a 25-yard effort which thumped the crossbar.

Baxter and O'Grady both headed off target earlier in the game while Stefan Scougall's header lacked the power to trouble goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell.

Walsall's only effort of note before the break came when Jordan Cook's...

Former Charlton striker Jordan Cook scored two goals and made the other as Walsall extended their unbeaten league run to six games after coming from behind to beat Barnsley 3-1 at the Banks's Stadium.

After early Walsall pressure, Barnsley took a surprise lead in the 29th minute when Connor Hourihane delivered a corner into the box where big defender Lewin Nyatanga was unmarked to score with a firm header inside the far post.

That brought a determined response from the Saddlers who hit two goals in...

Walsall produced a spirited comeback to eliminate Tranmere on penalties in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy shoot-out win which keeps alive their hopes of making a maiden Wembley voyage.

The Saddlers were 2-0 down at half-time but forced penalties and although Ashley Grimes' spot-kick was saved, Liam Ridehalgh hit the crossbar for Rovers before Marc Laird missed to allow Paul Downing to send Dean Smith's men through to the Northern Area final courtesy of a 5-4 success.

In normal time, Tranmere had led through...

Coventry and Walsall emphasised why they are not setting Sky Bet League One alight as they struggled to create chances in a goalless Midlands derby.

The home side, who have been flirting with the relegation zone in recent weeks, went the closest to scoring in a strong second-half showing but it was not enough to allow them to record successive league victories.

Neither side managed a single effort on target until 10 seconds from the end of the first half when home skipper Jim O'Brien forced a fine...

A Romaine Sawyers strike ended a nine-month unbeaten home run for Fleetwood as Walsall ran out 1-0 winners at Highbury.

Fleetwood could have taken the lead when Martin Paterson created space for himself 15 yards out and saw his a curling effort tipped behind by a Richard O'Donnell in the Saddlers goal.

But it was the visitors who grabbed the lead, Sawyers taking advantage of a mix-up in the Fleetwood defence, picking the ball up at the back post and lashing a low shot past Chris Maxwell.

Fleetwood were...
