Medeama stay top in Ghana Premier League

Medeama have gone two points clear at the top of the Ghana Premier League after beating Wa All Stars to confine the former champions to the bottom of the standings.

Kwame Boateng scored twice from the penalty spot, while another brace from Kwesi Donsu helped the Tarkwa side to a 4-1 win at the TNA Park. The result makes it seven wins out of seven at home in the league this season.

While Medeama are flying high, Wa All Stars are struggling, having not won in eight matches and remaining bottom of...

5 Ghana Premier League breakout stars

The organisation may be chaotic, but as far as talent goes, the Ghana Premier League can comfortably hold its own against most leagues on the continent.

And as the current season has evolved with all its problems -- schedule difficulties, last-minute changes -- so too have the players stepped up, scoring world-class goals, turning in outstanding displays, and thrilling the few who bother to turn up at the stadiums.

Ghana Premier League talking points

Another week in the Ghana Premier League, another tale of inconsistencies from Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

WAFA, meanwhile, are in free fall, while Accra Hearts of Oak are mulling a return to Accra as their home base for the seaon.

Kotoko's inconsistency is a problem
Kumasi Asante Kotoko boss Paa Kwesi Fabian accused his side of conceding cheap goals in a defeat at Dreams FC on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors seemed to be heading for a goalless draw at the Theatre of Dreams in...

Giants continue slide as Akunnor makes his mark

Five games into the Ghana Premier League and it seems clear that traditional giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be up against it this season too.

The two clubs with the most League titles have taken a backseat recently as the likes of Aduana Stars dominate the league, and again both suffered significant setbacks on Sunday.

CK Akunnor making his point in style
Former Ghana captain CK Akunnor has had his difficulties as a coach in spells at Eleven Wise and Hearts of Oak, but...

Key talking points from Ghana Premier League Week 2

It was a weekend for teams on the road in the Ghana Premier League with two away wins, four draws and only two defeats across the eight matches.

Those games also provided early indicators of a few things -- WAFA may have a great season again, Kotoko's goalscoring problems are far from over, and for all the bad press, this is still a league with significant interest.

- There is no panic yet, but Accra Hearts of Oak's start to the season will lead to a few questions in Adabraka. They have leaked...
