Nice sign ex-Brazil international defender Dante from Wolfsburg

Dante had pledged his future to Wolfsburg earlier this summer.

Nice have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Dante from Wolfsburg.

The 32-year-old had confirmed on Sunday he was poised to reunite with his former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre at the Ligue 1 club, and the deal was announced on Monday evening once the formalities were completed.

The former Lille, Standard Liege and Bayern Munich man has signed a three-year contract, according to sources, despite pledging his future to Wolfsburg earlier this summer.

Wolfsburg defender Dante has confirmed he is on his way to French club Nice, once he passes a medical on Sunday.

The Brazil defender is set to link up once again with his former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre at the Ligue 1 club.

He was left out of the Wolves squad for their DFB-Pokal opener at FSV Frankfurt on Saturday and he confirmed to Sport1 television that he is about to complete his move to France.

Wolfsburg have confirmed Nice's interest in Brazilian defender Dante, while ruling out an exit for midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Dante, 32, joined Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich last summer, but he endured a difficult debut campaign.

Although making a total of 35 appearances for Die Wolfe in all competitions, Dante, who has two years remaining on his contract, struggled to impress.

Mario Gomez represented Germany at Euro 2016.

Wolfsburg have announced the signing of Germany striker Mario Gomez from Fiorentina.

Gomez, 31, will be presented as a Wolfsburg player on Thursday, completing his return to the Bundesliga.

The attacker joined Fiorentina from Bayern Munich in 2013 and he spent last season on loan at Turkish side Besiktas.

Gomez, who also played for Stuttgart in Germany, has scored 138 goals in 236 Bundesliga matches.
