Puebla rescue unlikely draw against Toluca; Veracruz upset Pumas

Luis Gabriel Rey
Luis Gabriel Rey, right, celebrates with teammates after scoring Puebla's first goal against Toluca.

Puebla came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Toluca on Thursday in the Liga MX Apertura 2015 quarterfinal first leg.

Second-half goals from Luis Gabriel Rey and Roberto Herrera salvaged a draw for Puebla, after Omar Arellano and Fernando Uribe had put Toluca 2-0 up in the first 45 minutes.

The teams will go into Sunday's second leg, but the away-goal rule is in place and makes Toluca the favorite to advance.

2015 Clausura playoffs begin with Tigres, Club America SPI favorites

This is a match of contrasts and not just because it pits first against eighth.

Tigres are the team that has dominated the ball more than any other this season. The Copa Libertadores quarterfinalists have completed more passes, had more possession and achieved the highest pass-completion...

America's win in the Clasico Joven moves it up in the Power Rankings

Oribe Peralta's winner in the Clasico Joven for Club America over Cruz Azul helped the inconsistent club secure a vital three points and third place in this week's Power Rankings.

There was a total of 31 times that the 18 teams scored over the weekend. Most noticeably, the games between Leon vs Queretaro and Club Tijuana vs Monterrey had an astonishing total of 16 goals.

With only two draws and little lack of excitement from the weekend, let's check out the recent updated Power Rankings for the Liga MX.

1. Veracruz (no change)

Despite the 3-1 loss to Tigres on Saturday, Veracruz is still No. 1 in the rankings. The recent lack of wins for first-place Club Tijuana and a near-defeat...
