MLS clubs closer to CONCACAF Champions League win - Garber

Herculez Gomez explains why Tigres are the easy pick to win the CONCACAF Champions League over fellow Mexican side Pachuca.
Herculez Gomez and Taylor Twellman explain why the struggles continue for MLS teams in the CONCACAF Champions League.

MLS commissioner Don Garber believes that teams from his league are getting closer to winning the CONCACAF Champions League despite not reaching the regional final for the seventh time in nine years.

Earlier this month, FC Dallas lost its semifinal series against Mexico's Pachuca, while the Vancouver Whitecaps were eliminated by Liga MX champ Tigres in the other semifinal.

The 2016-17 winner will be crowned next week; Tigres and Pachuca tied 1-1 on Tuesday in the first match of this year's two-leg,...

Fanendo Adi sets Timbers goals record as RSL finally wins in snowstorm

Fanendo Adi converted a penalty kick to become Portland's all-time leading scorer in a win at Philadelphia.

Fanendo Adi became the Portland Timbers' all-time top goal scorer with his 46th for the club as he scored to close out a 3-1 victory over the winless Philadelphia Union on Saturday night.

Adi scored from a penalty kick in the 88th minute to move past John Bain, who played for the Timbers in the old NASL from 1978-82. It was his fifth goal of the season after starting the year in third place behind Byron Alvarez (2003-06).

Philadelphia opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a perfectly timed...

Brek Shea sidelined 6-12 weeks for Vancouver Whitecaps

Herculez Gomez and Taylor Twellman explain why the struggles continue for MLS teams in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Matias Laba led a second-half surge that saw Vancouver overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit to beat LA Galaxy.

Vancouver Whitecaps attacker Brek Shea will miss the next 6-12 weeks after injuring his knee, coach Carl Robinson says.

Shea scored in the third minute of the Whitecaps' CONCACAF Champions League defeat to Tigres, but left the game after picking up the injury seven minutes later.

Robinson said Shea, who joined the team from Orlando City in February, would have more tests on Friday but that the injury "doesn't look good."

"If I had to hazard a guess, it will probably be six, eight, 10, 12 weeks,"...

Bastian Schweinsteiger scores in debut as Fire draw; Minnesota earns first win

Bastian Schweinsteiger entered MLS with a bang, opening the scoring against Montreal before they ultimately drew 2-2.

Bastian Schweinsteiger scored in his MLS debut before the Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact traded late goals in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Less than two weeks after leaving Manchester United and moving to Chicago, Schweinsteiger played all 90 minutes and scored the opening goal with a header following a corner kick in the 17th minute.

The Impact equalized through Matteo Mancosu just after the hour mark, and it got worse for the Fire after Juninho was sent off for a second booking 10 minutes later.

Montreal's...
