Valenciennes eyeing Diedhiou & Cabral

Ligue 2 side Valenciennes are keen to add another attacker to their ranks after signing South African forward Lebo Mothiba, and are monitoring Simon Diedhiou and Jerson Cabral.

Faruk Hadzibegic's side began their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Gazelec Ajaccio on Friday evening, and the Bosnian coach is keen for more firepower before the window closes.

He's already added Mothiba on loan from LOSC Lille, although the South Africa U-23 international is unproven in the second tier.

Waly Diouf: Senegalese starlet joins Leganes

Senegal youngster Waly Diouf has joined La Liga side Leganes on a three-year deal, ending his brief stay with Valenciennes.

The defender, who is a graduate of the Olympique Lyonnais academy, represented Auxerre before joining Valenciennes earlier this season.

Having come to the end of his deal with the Ligue 2 side, he marked his 20th birthday by putting pen to paper on his first professional contract, joining Spanish top flight outfit Leganes.

Speaking to Senegalese source Jour de Sport, Diouf expressed...

Valenciennes' David Le Frapper gets two-match ban for sexist ref rant

David Le Frapper
Le Frapper's comments were not well-received by the league's disciplinary committee despite his apology.

Valenciennes manager David Le Frapper must serve a two-game match day ban as a result of his sexist remarks about a female referee.

Le Frapper, 44, was widely condemned earlier this month after hitting out at Stephanie Frappart following her decision not to award his side a penalty during a Ligue 2 match against Laval.

"Apparently there's a penalty but she didn't see it or she was too far away," he said following the game. "She was doing ice-skating before... I don't know."

Valenciennes manager David Le Frapper sorry after sexist ref rant

David Le Frapper
David Le Frapper only joined the club in February.

Valenciennes manager David Le Frapper has apologised to referee Stephanie Frappart for making sexist remarks about her that have been denounced as from "another time" by the French referees' union.

Le Frapper was unhappy that his side were not awarded a penalty in a 0-0 draw against Laval in a Ligue 2 match on Friday. And, after the game, the 44-year-old had trouble containing his frustration.

"Apparently there's a penalty but she didn't see it or she was too far way... I don't know," he said of...

Rodriguez brace inspires Monaco

James Rodriguez celebrates his goal for Monaco against Nantes.
James Rodriguez scored twice for Monaco against Nantes.

Monaco kept alive any slim hopes of claiming a first Ligue 1 title in 14 years with a 3-1 win over Nantes.

Having not tasted victory in their previous two league outings, Claudio Ranieri's team had to win to prevent themselves falling an almost unassailable 13 points behind PSG with just 18 to play for and a brace from Colombian James Rodriguez proved just the tonic.

Bafetimbi Gomis scored his...
