Serie A strugglers Pescara scored a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 1-1 with 10-man Cagliari at the Stadio Adriatico and end a seven-game losing run.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Davide Di Gennaro set up Marco Borriello.

But nine minutes later they were reduced to 10 men when Di Gennaro was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Valerio Verre.

Pescara threw men found and had 19 attempts on goal but it was not until two minutes into injury time that they found the net, Gianluca...

Diego Perotti, Edin Dzeko superb as Roma edge lowly Pescara 3-2

Diego Perotti had two assists and one goal as Roma did just enough to beat Pescara.

Roma had Edin Dzeko to thank for scraping a 3-2 win over a spirited Pescara side that threatened to overturn a two-goal half-time deficit and was unlucky to have left the Stadio Olimpico with nothing.

Two goals in three minutes, both excellently taken from glorious assists from the outstanding Diego Perotti (who bagged the third from the penalty spot), gave Roma a much-needed cushion within the first 10 minutes and moved his league tally up to 12 in 14 appearances. Without his goals, the Giallorossi...

Edin Dzeko scored twice but Roma needed a third goal from Diego Perotti to survive a Pescara comeback and triumph 3-2 in the capital.

The Bosnian striker reached 12 goals for the Serie A season with a quickfire early brace before Ledian Memushaj made it a contest after half-time.

Had Perotti not then stuck away a spot-kick, Gianluca Caprari's powerful left-footed finish would have denied Roma their share of second with AC Milan.

Pescara's defenders might well have watched Dzeko running riot on his...

Dzeko's form the key to Roma's title challenge

Edin Dzeko continued his hot run of form with a hat trick in Roma's Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen.
After six years away from AS Roma, Luciano Spalletti returns in hopes of leading Roma to Europa League glory.
ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti analyses Roma's recent surge of goals, and if their leaky defence could come back to haunt them.

It's been a long time since Roma could say that they were leading the way for Italy in Europe, but after what seems like a lifetime of humiliation on the continent the Giallorossi can hold their heads a bit higher, thanks to the reborn Edin Dzeko.

Thursday night's Dzeko-inspired 4-1 Europa league cuffing of Viktoria Plzen at the Stadio Olimpico saw Roma qualify for the knockout stages as Group E winners with a match to spare. It was the perfect antidote to last weekend's traumatic second...

Reigning champions Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A over Roma to seven points with a 3-0 win against lowly Pescara in Turin.

The Bianconeri made several changes on the return to domestic action following the international break and ahead of Tuesday's crunch Champions League showdown against Seville, with the likes of veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, midfielder Miralem Pjanic and right-back Dani Alves all rested.

There was also a late debut for 16-year-old forward Moise Kean.
