Christian Pulisic among U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year nominees

After Christian Pulisic's post for the Players' Tribune, the FC crew debate how to improve U.S. player development.
Craig Burley uses his own experience to support Christian Pulisic's comments on how to improve American player development.
As the Christian Pulisic rumours to Bayern Munich continue, the FC panel question if the time is right for the young American.

Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Jordan Morris and Christian Pulisic have been nominated for U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year, the federation announced on Tuesday.

The winner will be announced on ESPN later this month.

Pulisic, who was named the Young Male Player of the Year a year ago, led the finalists with six goals for the national team in 2017, while also starring for Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga and Champions League.

Dempsey had five U.S. goals -- three in a hat...

Rhian Brewster scored a hat-trick as England defeated the United States 4-1 in the quarter-finals of the U-17 World Cup in Goa.

The U.S. were outplayed all throughout, and following Brewster's first-half brace, Morgan Gibbs-White had already put the game beyond them with England's third in the 64th minute.

Josh Sargent, one of the U.S.'s better players on the night, got a consolation goal in the 72nd, before Brewster completed his hat-trick from a penalty in injury time.

England will face the...

England, U.S. U-17 teams provide hope for floundering football nations

England U-17 players train in Goa ahead of the quarterfinals.
England U-17 players train in Goa ahead of the quarterfinals.

Two teenage boys - one in the solid crimson bearing the stamp of three lions rampant, the other in American white -- swaggered into the pre match press conference at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. Each was likely equally confident of scripting history history - Andrew Carleton, the captain of the USA U-17 football team leading his country to only its second World Cup semifinal and Marc Guehi, taking England to its first. It won't be the first time that Carleton, and Guehi will be meeting each other,...

U.S. set to decide on interim national team coach this weekend - sources

Sebastian Salazar and Herculez Gomez debate whether U.S. players need to be held responsible for their World Cup failure.

The decision on who will manage the U.S. men's national team for next month's friendly against Portugal will be made some time this weekend, multiple sources have told ESPN FC.

U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati said on a conference call with reporters late last week that a decision on an interim manager would be made in "seven to 10 days," and it appears that Gulati intends to stick to that timeline.

Sources have confirmed to ESPN FC an SI.com report that U.S. youth technical director...

Up to U.S. under-17s to 'give hope to our country' at World Cup - Hackworth

United States under-17 coach John Hackworth told his players that it was up to them "to give hope to our country" after the senior U.S. team failed to qualify for the World Cup.

And the youth team responded with an emphatic 5-0 win over Paraguay in the U-17 World Cup Round of 16 in India on Monday -- securing a place in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2005.

After the game, Hackworth was asked whether this win would compensate for the senior national team's loss last week that eliminated...
