Juventus defeat to Udinese not a big deal - Massimiliano Allegri

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti says there's no reason for Juventus to be concerned despite their opening-match defeat by Udinese.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said he was not too concerned about his side's first defeat at home in Serie A since January 2013 on Sunday.

A 1-0 loss to Udinese at the Juventus Stadium was not the ideal start to a season in which the Bianconeri hope to win a fifth straight Scudetto.

However, Allegri is refusing to panic, insisting just a little more sharpness is needed from his Juve team.

"We did what we had to do for 70 minutes, only really failing to get a goal," Allegri is quoted as saying...

Defending champions Juventus suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Udinese in their Serie A opener on Sunday.

Cyril Thereau scored the only goal of the game with what was Udinese's first shot on target in the 78th minute, and Juve could not respond.

It was Juve's first home league loss since January 2013 and only the sixth time in 48 games since that defeat that they have even dropped points in front of their own fans.

The result at the Juventus stadium failed to reflect the home side's dominance,...

Udinese, Torino, Carpi advance to Coppa Italia fourth round

Ivan Piris, right, and Udinese stormed to a 3-1 defeat of Novara on Sunday.
Udinese progressed to the fourth round of the Coppa Italia with a 3-1 defeat of Novara at the recently-renovated Stadio Friuli.

Playing for the first-time in their new-look stadium, Udinese led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Guilherme and Cyril Thereau.

Daniele Buzzegoli responded with a free-kick for Novara but, within two minutes, Duvan Zapata was setting up fellow debutant Edenilson for the Brazilian to score the hosts' third goal.

Torino also progressed, at the expense of Pescara in a...

Simone Scuffet dreaming about future transfer to Roma

Simone Scuffet has joined Como on loan from Udinese.

Como goalkeeper Simone Scuffet says he can imagine a future at Roma as he prepares for his first season away from home -- a year after he turned down the opportunity to join Atletico Madrid.

Scuffet, 19, had an offer from the Spanish club 12 months ago which would have seen him multiply the salary he was on at Udinese. However, following discussions with his family, he chose to stay put in Friuli and finish school in Italy.

After catching the eye with his performances in Serie A for Udinese during...
