Tours knock in-form Angers out of the Coupe de la Ligue

Tours players celebrate after going ahead against Ligue 1 side Angers.

Ligue 1 surprise package Angers were knocked out of the Coupe de la Ligue after losing 1-0 second-division Tours on Tuesday night.

Luca Miracoli scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute as Angers, the promoted side who have started the top-flight season in impressive fashion and lie second behind Paris Saint-Germain, went out of the competition at the third-round stage.

AC Ajaccio defender Joris Sainati gets 16-month ban for double punch

AC Ajaccio's Joris Sainati has been hit with a massive 16-month suspension for punching two players during a Ligue 2 match last month.

Sainati, 26, became involved in a scuffle at the end of Ajaccio's home game against Tours on Aug. 28, during which his side had a 1-0 lead overturned in the final 10 minutes.

The defender player struck 18-year-old Tours goalkeeper Bingourou Kamara with a vicious blow from behind before landing another clean hit on 21-year-old midfielder Haris Belkebla.

Lens out of Coupe de la Ligue

Ligue 2 leaders Lens are out of the Coupe de la Ligue after suffering a 4-3 defeat at the hands of AS Creteil.

Lens took the lead through Adamo Coulibaly, but Creteil took control of the match through goals to Jean-Michel Lesage, Ibrahima Seck and Marcel Essombe.

Lens made it 3-2 with Pierre Ducasse finding the back of the net, but Creteil again responded with another goal to Lesage.
