Tigres' Andre-Pierre Gignac meets feline namesake at Monterrey zoo

Andre-Pierre Gignac can strike fear into opposing defenses but not quite the fear that a tiger can.

Players that become a legend at a club normally have a statue, a stand, training ground, street name or something similar dedicated to them when they are elevated to undisputed hero status. Not Tigres' French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. The 31-year-old has instead had a Bengal tiger at a local Monterrey zoo named after him, after a total of 708 of 2,000 local schoolchildren asked to vote on a suitable name for the animal chose Gignac.

As Keisuke Honda's dream move at AC Milan came to an end, questions arise whether or not Pachuca is a good fit.

Liga MX is about to start another exhilarating season, where ten clubs have Mexican managers, while the other eight are led by foreigners. This season will be a good one to analyze young, new Mexican coaches like Lobos BUAP's Rafael Puente Jr. and Puebla's Rafael "Chiquis" Garcia. Queretaro's Jaime Lozano, who took over for Victor Manuel Vucetich in Week 5 of last season, has had an entire preseason to prepare the team, so his stamp will be clearer this time around.

Juventus pull out of trip to Mexico City because of scheduling conflict

Max Allegri and Juventus will not be participating in the Super Copa Tecate due to a scheduling conflict.

Juventus have cancelled their plans to participate in the Super Copa Tecate in Mexico City this month. 

The Serie A club said in a statement that they were forced to back out because of "rescheduling of the first part of preseason."

Juventus were scheduled to play July 18 and 19 matches against Monterrey and Tigres, respectively.

Tecate said in a release that the other matches in the event between Porto, Cruz Azul and Chivas will go on as planned.
