Brazilian defender Douglas joins Barcelona from Sao Paulo

Barcelona have signed defender Douglas Pereira from Sao Paulo for 4 million Euros, on a five-year deal.

Barcelona have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Douglas, the club have announced.

The deal was agreed earlier this week and, after passing a medical, Douglas was able to put pen to paper.

Barcelona strike Douglas deal

Douglas Pereira will be the next Barcelona signing as the club look to stockpile talent ahead of their one-year transfer ban.

Barcelona have agreed to sign right-back Douglas from Brazilian side Sao Paulo, with a deal worth 5.5 million euros to be confirmed subject to a medical.

Carles Puyol: The inspiring leader

Blaugrana figures Antoni Rossich, Raul Sanllehi and Andre Cury were in Brazil to do the deal this week, with the uncapped Douglas, 24, now set to provide competition at right-back for compatriot Dani Alves, 31, and home-grown Martin Montoya, 23.

The agreement should take Barca's summer outlay to around ...
