Ex-players led match-fixing ring

GRAZ, Austria -- Three ex-players in Austria formed a criminal organisation during their careers and attempted to manipulate 18 national league games from 2004 to 2013, state prosecutors said on Friday.

Sanel Kuljic, Dominique Taboga and Johannes Lamprecht are alleged to have fixed matches in the country's first and second divisions, offering other players 7,000 to 40,000 euros to help decide the results of matches, on which bets of up to 300,000 euros ($415,000) would be placed.

A former Austria international has reportedly been arrested for match fixing after allegedly attempting to "blackmail" SV Grodig defender Dominique Taboga into manipulating the outcome of a Bundesliga game, according to local media.
