Bayern hoping to sign Martin Odegaard after offering second trial

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has been ruled out for three months with a broken ankle.

Bayern Munich have invited 15-year-old Martin Odegaard for a second trial, while they believe they have a good chance of winning the race to sign the midfielder.

Odegaard currently plays for Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, where he is still under contract until the end of 2015.

Norway's Martin Odegaard, 15, makes European Championship history

Martin Odegaard became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship qualifier when he came on as a second-half substitute for Norway in Monday's 2-1 win over Bulgaria.

Odegaard, aged 15 years and 300 days, replaced Mats Moller Daehli in the 64th minute to a huge ovation from the home crowd. He broke a 31-year-old record held by Iceland's Siggi Jonsson, who was 16 years and 251 days when he made his qualifying debut against Malta in 1983.

Legia Warsaw oust St Patrick's

Irish champions St Patrick's are out of the Champions League after a 5-0 defeat saw them lose 6-1 on aggregate to Legia Warsaw in the second qualifying round on Wednesday.

The Dublin side were only 1-0 behind at halftime but a flurry of goals after the hour-mark ensured it is the Polish champions who will now meet Celtic in the next round.

St Patrick's were denied a shock Champions League victory over Legia Warsaw after conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in the first leg of their Champions League second qualifying round in Poland.
