Byron Harrison scored twice on his return to Stevenage which secured their first home win since November with a 2-0 victory over Cambridge.

Harrison helped Stevenage secure promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2011 before moving to AFC Wimbledon but has only managed three substitute outings for Chesterfield this season.

This week the 28-year-old rejoined the club where he started his professional career on a one-month loan and only needed 18 minutes to make his mark at Broadhall Way before claiming a...

Teddy Sheringham goes to Stevenage match in disguise after sack

Teddy Sheringham is a Tottenham and Man United legend.

You can't keep Teddy Sheringham away from Stevenage -- even after his sacking as manager he went to their next game in disguise.

The former England striker's eight-month spell at the helm was ended last Monday after only seven wins from his 33 games in charge.

But rather than avoid Stevenage's next result in the wake of the sacking, Sheringham actually went to Borough's next match with Crawley on Saturday in order to see how the players reacted.

"I got the sack on the Monday and Stevenage were playing...

Stevenage recorded a first win in 10 games as they claimed a 2-1 win at Hartlepool.

Under the command of academy chief Darren Sarll following the sacking of Teddy Sheringham, Boro comfortably led 2-0 at Victoria Park before seeing the game out with some dogged defending and good fortune.

Home goalkeeper Trevor Carson made two fine early saves. First he kept out a powerful Aaron O'Connor header, before denying Charlie Lee when his low finish looked destined for the net in the 11th minute.

Matt Harrold's first-half strike was enough for Crawley to secure a first away victory since October and heap more misery on struggling Stevenage.

Harrold fired the Reds ahead a minute before the break after Roarie Deacon found space on the left and centred for the striker to net his sixth goal of the season.

Gwion Edwards had earlier wasted Crawley's best chance when he struck Bobson Bawling's cut-back straight at Jamie Jones, while Pat Hoban's first-time shot forced Paul Jones into a smart save at...

Stevenage sack Teddy Sheringham as manager amid poor form

Teddy Sheringham was named Stevenage boss in May.

Teddy Sheringham's first managerial role has come to an end after he was dismissed by League Two Stevenage on Monday.

Former England striker Sheringham saw his side take three points from a possible 24 culminating in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers York.

Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace said: "Teddy has had the worst luck I've seen in the 16 years I've owned the football club. Normally we'd have one or two major ops on key players in a season but we've had more this season than the last...
