VAR breakdown hits Rennes-Toulouse match amid penalty controversy

The referee of Sunday's Ligue 1 match between Rennes and Toulouse was unable to review a penalty award after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology broke down.

Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa, who did not play last season after being frozen out by former coach Unai Emery, has signed a one-year contract with Rennes.

Ben Arfa, 31, made his last appearance for PSG on April 5, 2017, in the quarterfinals of the Coupe de France, when he scored twice in a 4-0 win over Avranches.

Joris Gnagnon has signed for Sevilla on a five-year deal from Stade Rennais, the Spanish heavyweights have confirmed.
