Paul-Georges Ntep was Rennes' top scorer last season.

Rennes striker Paul-Georges Ntep's start to the new season faces further disruption due to injuries which will sideline him for "several weeks."

Already suspended for the Aug. 8 season opener against Bastia, Ntep has now suffered a combination of injuries to both legs.

A statement on staderennais.com read: "Paul-Georges Ntep will be absent from the field for several weeks. The Stade Rennais attacker suffered a tear of the right hamstring, shin splints and a stress fracture to the left tibia."

Yoann Gourcuff yet to decide on future amid Bordeaux, Rennes links - agent

Yoann Gourcuff is considering offers from Ligue 1 and abroad after leaving Lyon.

Yoann Gourcuff has trained at his former club Bordeaux but the France international's representative has insisted he has yet to decide on his future amid interest from Rennes.

Gourcuff, whose Lyon contract expires at the end of this month, was hailed as "the new Zidane" during a two-year spell at Bordeaux in which he was the chief architect of their Ligue 1 title win in 2009 under Laurent Blanc.

He subsequently moved to Lyon in a €22 million transfer, but his progress was blighted by injury.

Yacouba Sylla completes switch from Aston Villa to Stade Rennes

Yacuba Sylla joined Villa in 2013.

Aston Villa midfielder Yacouba Sylla has joined French side Stade Rennes on a four-year contract.

Ligue 1 side Rennes confirmed the transfer on their official club website to end Sylla's two-and-a-half year stay at Villa Park.

"Stade Rennais FC is pleased to announce the signing of the Mali international, Yacouba Sylla," the French club said in a brief statement.
