Substitute Nicolas de Preville salvaged a point for Lille in a 1-1 draw with St Etienne at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday.

Romain Hamouma put the visitors in front after 17 minutes as they looked to bounce back from two games without a win.

But De Preville's powerful 71st-minute effort drew Lille level and the same player came close to grabbing a winner when he hit the frame of the goal with two minutes left.

French league leaders Nice have only the title race to focus on for the rest of the season after going out of the Coupe de France on Sunday, losing 2-1 away to Lorient.

Lorient, in last place in Ligue 1, saw off Nice despite the visitors taking the lead through top scorer Alassane Plea near the end of the first half.

The hosts equalised with a fine individual goal from former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere in the 71st minute, and Algerian midfielder Walid Mesloub's winner shortly after sent...

St Etienne's lack of cutting edge cost them dearly as they were held to a goalless Ligue 1 draw by 10-man Nancy at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Christophe Galtier's side have one of the best defensive records in the French top flight, but have only scored 18 goals in 19 Ligue 1 games this term.

The visitors had defender Erick Cabaco sent off with half an hour remaining, but still managed to hang on on for a point.

It could have been a different story for the home side had Kevin Monnet-Paquet's effort in...

St Etienne took Manchester United tickets off sale after 'historic interest'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that Muhammad Ali was his inspiration when he was a young player.
Eric Bailly was injured early against Palace before ultimately succumbing to a substitution early in the second half.
The FC crew debate whether or not it's the coach's responsibility to help correct Marcos Rojo's two-footed challenges.
Craig Burley says Zlatan Ibrahimovic is proving he can still deliver after he and Paul Pogba led Man United past Palace.

St Etienne temporarily suspended ticket sales for their Europa League round of 32 tie with Manchester United as an "historic" number of fans flocked to snap up seats.

Season ticket holders at the Ligue 1 club have until Dec. 23 to buy up to four extra tickets each for the second leg tie at the 42,000 capacity Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Feb. 22, which could see brothers Florentin and Paul Pogba line up on opposite sides.

With waiting times of up to three hours after the tickets went on sale on Thursday,...
