Arsenal target William Carvalho ruled out for three months, confirm Sporting

William Carvalho has been attracting interest from Europe.

Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder William Carvalho will be sidelined for three months with a stress fracture in his tibia, virtually ruling him out of a transfer to Arsenal this summer.

Carvalho, 23, impressed for Portugal at the under-21 European Championships in the Czech Republic as they reached the final -- although missed the vital penalty as Sweden won in a penalty shootout.

Costa Rica forward Bryan Ruiz leaves for Fulham for Sporting Lisbon

Bryan Ruiz was part of the Costa Rica side that reached the quarterfinals at the 2014 World Cup.

Sporting Lisbon have signed Bryan Ruiz from Fulham, including a €60 million buyout clause in his contract.

Costa Rica international Ruiz, 29, had joined Fulham from FC Twente for a reported £10.6m in 2011 and had a brief loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in 2014.

The Championship side took up an option to extend his deal in May but have now cashed in on the forward, who scored four goals in 29 appearances last season.

Sporting Lisbon sign 2004 tsunami survivor Martunis, inspired by Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo helped Martunis get back on his feet after the disaster.

Sporting Lisbon have signed a 17-year-old Indonesian player who survived the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 and was inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Martunis was just seven years old when his mother and two siblings were killed by the wave that hit the northern Indonesian region of Banda Aceh and killed over 230,000 people.
