Sporting Lisbon fans were seen on video being attacked by riot police.

LISBON, Portugal -- Sporting Lisbon have complained to the police about what it called a "barbaric" assault by riot police on some of their fans.

The complaint came after Sporting fan club Juve Leo published security camera footage showing police beating a fan outside the club's premises late Sunday.

Sunderland's Sebastian Coates extends Sporting loan for next season

Sebastian Coates will remain at Sporting Lisbon next season.

Sunderland defender Sebastian Coates will spend the 2016-17 season on loan at Sporting Lisbon, the Portuguese club have announced.

The Uruguay international has been on loan with the Primeira Liga since January and made 13 appearances for Sporting, who are two points behind leaders Benfica with one game left.
