Tottenham and England's Eric Dier backed for midfield role by former boss

Late goals from Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier completed England's comeback from 2-0 down for a 3-2 win at Germany.

Eric Dier's former manager believes the Tottenham star's future lies in midfield and says the 22-year-old is like "very few" other midfielders in world football.

William Carvalho seals new deal to stay at Sporting until 2020

Portugal international William Carvalho has agreed a new deal with his club Sporting.

William Carvalho has signed a contract extension with Sporting Lisbon until 2020, the Portuguese club announced on Tuesday.

The new deal ties the midfielder to Sporting for an additional two years.

The 23-year-old had been linked to a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window, but Sporting have ensured he will not leave on the cheap by retaining his a €45 million buyout clause.

Sampdoria chief regrets not signing Marko Arnautovic and Alberto Aquilani

Marko Arnautovic has scored seven Premier League goals this season.
