Dani Osvaldo set to join Porto for free after Southampton release - sources

Dani Osvaldo spent time on loan at Boca Juniors last season before being released by Southampton this summer.

Former Southampon striker Dani Osvaldo is set to join Porto on a free transfer, sources have told ESPN FC.

Osvaldo, 29, is a free agent after Southampton decided to terminate his contract two years early following a controversial spell at St Mary's.

The Italy international joined Southampton from Roma in a club-record deal of £14.6 million in the summer of 2013, but was loaned back to Italy after less than six months in England.

Dusan Tadic learned from injury-plagued second half of 2014-15

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is handling Jay Rodriguez's return to action carefully. The Saints striker ruptured his aneterior cruciate ligament in March last year.

Dusan Tadic believes he is getting back to his best after pushing himself too hard during his maiden season at Southampton.

An impressive spell in the Eredivisie with FC Groningen and then FC Twente earned the 26-year-old midfielder a big-money move to St Mary's last summer.

Tadic was Ronald Koeman's first signing as Saints manager and quickly justified his £10.9million price tag, scoring one and providing four assists in the remarkable 8-0 mauling of Sunderland.

Ronald Koeman says he may have Jay Rodriguez back for the return leg against Vitesse.

Southampton could not have wished for more on their return to European football, but Ronald Koeman will not let complacency slip in against Vitesse Arnhem.

It has been 12 topsy-turvy years since Saints last appeared on the continental stage -- a period in which the club dropped down to League One and the brink of extinction.

Now, though, things are on the up at St. Mary's, with last season's best-ever Premier League campaign resulting in European football returning to the south coast.

Koeman's former...

Ronald Koeman questions Vitesse's player-loan agreement with Chelsea

In an exclusive chat with ESPNFC's Shaka Hislop, Jose Mourinho says the wealth of the Premier League makes it the top competition in the world.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has suggested his former club Vitesse Arnhem have lost some of their identity after entering into a relationship with Premier League champions Chelsea that sees them accept a host of loan players each season.

Vitesse could field four Chelsea youngsters in their Europa League third qualifying round tie against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on Thursday, with the Dutch club being used by the Blues to give their rising stars first team experience.
