Napoli sealed top spot in the Europa League Group I with a 3-0 triumph over Slovan Bratislava at the San Paolo stadium on Thursday.

Dries Mertens put the hosts on their way in the sixth minute before captain Marek Hamsik doubled Napoli's lead shortly after.

Duvan Zapata wrapped up the win with 15 minutes remaining.

The victory, Napoli's fourth in the group stages, ensured Rafa Benitez's side finished one point ahead of Young Boys, who won 2-0 over Sparta Prague to join the Italians in the next round.

Young Boys brushed aside eliminated Slovan Bratislava 3-1 to remain in the hunt for the next round of the Europa League.

Guillaume Hoarau's early penalty was cancelled out almost immediately by Seydouba Soumah, whose effort was the Slovakian side's first goal in five Group I matches.

But a brace from Yuya Kubo, one in each half, settled matters in the visitors' favour.

Both sides came out quickly, with action at either end before Young Boys went in front in the ninth minute.

David Lafata continued his Europa League hot streak with a brace as Sparta Prague went top of Group I with victory over Slovan Bratislava.

Sparta ran out 4-0 winners at Stadion Letna, one better than sides' previous meeting, with Lafata scoring his fourth and fifth of the competition.

The 33-year-old opened and closed the scoring, with Ladislav Krejci and Costa Nhamoinesu also on the scoresheet.

UEFA charges Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Prague over violence

Fan violence led to a 40-minute delay in the match at the Stadion Pasienky.

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Prague after last Thursday's Europa League match in Slovakia was interrupted for half an hour by clashes between supporters.

Swedish referee Martin Strombergsson was forced to suspend proceedings at the Stadion Pasienky shortly before half-time, with the Group I game goalless, as violent exchanges took place in the stands.
