Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro came off the bench to grab a late winner for Shrewsbury as they won 1-0 at Newport.

Akpa Akpro took advantage of some poor defending from the home side to curl the ball past Joe Day with 13 minutes remaining.

It moved Shrewsbury top of League Two and condemned Justin Edinburgh's promotion-chasing side to their third straight defeat.

The home side had the best chances of the first half and Aaron O'Connor had a great opportunity to put County in front when Connor Goldson misjudged...

James Collins fired in his second goal of the game late on as promotion contenders Shrewsbury beat Stevenage 3-2 in a Greenhous Meadow thriller.

Four of the five goals came in the first half but Collins' second of the game prevented the visitors from becoming just the third team to take a point off the Shrews in Shropshire.

Stevenage, with five wins and a draw from their previous six games, took the lead in the 10th minute.

Tom Pett's pass picked out Adam Marriott and the striker broke into the box...

Shrewsbury returned to the top three in League Two after comfortably getting the better of bottom side Hartlepool 3-0.

All the goals came inside 18 second-half minutes with Andy Mangan scoring twice and setting up the other for James Collins.

There were chances at either end in an open first half with Shrewsbury making most of the early running.

Skipper Liam Lawrence's shot from the edge of the box was deflected narrowly wide before Mark Ellis headed just over and Collins sliced wide from a good position.

Ten-man Shrewsbury held promotion rivals Luton to a goalless draw at Kenilworth Road on Thursday evening.

The visitors had to play the last 20 minutes with a numerical disadvantage after defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival was shown two yellows, but had goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler to thank for earning them a point, as he made two fine late saves.

The hosts almost enjoyed an excellent start as Jake Howells sent a right footer against the post, while debutant Jayden Stockley fired his half-volley over.

George Taft scored the first goal of his career to clinch a 1-0 win for Burton over promotion rivals Shrewsbury.

The young defender struck on the hour-mark to end Shrewsbury's run of five successive clean sheets.

Burton's Jon McLaughlin was the busier of the two goalkeepers as the visitors controlled the first half.

He was tested by two James Collins headers in the early stages and also covered his near post well to keep out Bobby Grant's shot.

The hosts offered little in the way of attacking threat...
