Second-half goals from Marcus Antonsson and Chris Wood gave Leeds a 2-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Antonsson headed the opener shortly after the hour mark and Wood's late goal clinched Garry Monk's first league win as Leeds manager.

But Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri, back in the team after controversially refusing to play at Norwich last week amid transfer speculation, will rue two missed chances in quick succession in the first half.

Norwich were unable to build on last weekend's superb start to the Sky Bet Championship campaign as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road.

The Canaries, who were 4-1 winners at Blackburn in their opening match, had by far the better of the first half, while the visitors came more into it after the interval and were well worth their share of the spoils.

The Canaries were quickly on the front foot at a packed Carrow Road and might have gone ahead in the second...

Fernando Forestieri's goal five minutes from time gave Sheffield Wednesday a winning start to the Sky Bet Championship season as they beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Hillsborough.

A poor clearance from Villa debutant Pierluigi Gollini allowed Forestieri to score the only goal of the game as Roberto Di Matteo's men began life in the second tier with a defeat.

Villa, who have not been outside the top tier since the 1987-88 campaign, were up against it early on.

Their skipper Tommy Elphick was forced to make...

Sunderland's Will Buckley joins Sheffield Wednesday on loan

Will Buckley signed a three-year contract with Sunderland in August 2014.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Sunderland winger Will Buckley on a season-long loan.

Buckley, 26, has been a peripheral figure at the Stadium of Light for the majority of his two years at the club and did not feature last season.

Instead he had loan spells at Leeds and Birmingham in the Championship, where he will return to link up with the Owls.

Wednesday have confirmed he will be available for Sunday's...

Rafa Benitez and Newcastle hope to emerge from Championship chaos

The ESPN FC crew discuss whether Rafael Benitez is right to remain at Newcastle.

This time last year, Rafael Benitez was preparing his Real Madrid side, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, for a season of challenging for the Champions League and La Liga.

Just 12 months on and trips to Burton and Rotherham that consume Benitez's thoughts, as he readies Newcastle for the hard, relentless slog that is the Championship.

It's not just the presence of Benitez that has made Newcastle the clearest favourites for promotion in years, but more the way the club has gone about its...
