Andre Villas-Boas: SIPG can still win Chinese FA Cup in second leg

Andre Villas-Boas and his side must overcome a 1-0 first-leg deficit.

Andre Villas-Boas is confident his Shanghai SIPG side can lift the Chinese FA Cup despite Obafemi Martins giving Shanghai Shenhua a 1-0 win in the first leg of the final on Sunday.

Martins scored from close range to give Wu Jingui's side the advantage against Villas-Boas and his expensively-assembled side.

Having threatened to earn success on three fronts, including beating main rivals Guangzhou Evergrande on three separate occasions in the space of a month, their season's hopes of silverware now hinge solely upon next month's CFA Cup final clash with city rivals Shenhua.

On Wednesday night, in the bowels of Saitama Stadium, their dream of becoming the second Chinese side to triumph in the AFC Champions...

Andre Villas-Boas: ACL run 'a good experience' for Shanghai SIPG

Andre Villas-Boas looks on during the Chinese Super League between Shanghai SIPG and Changchun Yatai.
Andre Villas-Boas saw his side eliminated in the semifinals.

Andre Villas-Boas said Shanghai SIPG's run to the semifinals of the AFC Champions League was a "step forward" despite their defeat by Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds.

A goal from Rafael Silva was enough to earn Urawa a 2-1 aggregate win and a place in the final against Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal.

SIPG have improved since the arrival of Villas-Boas and are in second place in the Chinese Super League as well as in the final of the Chinese FA Cup.

"This achievement in the ACL was a step forward for SIPG,"...
