Roger Schmidt made it three wins from three games as Beijing Guoan head coach thanks to Jonathan Soriano's double.

Jonathan Soriano scored twice as Roger Schmidt's winning start as Beijing Guoan boss continued with a 2-1 win over Shanghai Shenhua in the China Derby on Sunday evening that kept the club's hopes of a top-three finish intact.

Victory moves Beijing up to sixth in the standings, but with only five points covering the teams from third to eighth, Schmidt and his team will be harbouring hopes of a late run at the final qualifying berth for next year's Asian Champions League.

Guangzhou Evergrande stay top of CSL following draw with Shanghai SIPG

Shanghai SIPG and Guangzhou Evergrande shared the spoils in an entertaining top-of-the-table CSL clash.

Guangzhou Evergrande maintained their hold on first place in the Chinese Super League on Saturday as a late equaliser from Wu Lei earned Shanghai SIPG a share of the points in the top-of-the-table clash at Shanghai Stadium.

Alan Carvalho gave Guangzhou the lead six minutes into the second half before Wu pulled his side level seven minutes later, only for Yu Hanchao to look to have given Luiz Felipe Scolari's side all three points with 20 minutes remaining.

Pato scores as Tianjin Quanjian beat Shanghai Shenhua, move into third

Tianjin Quanjian moved up to third in the CSL after an easy 3-0 home win over Shanghai Shenhua.

Zhao Xuri scored twice as Tianjin Quanjian handed Shanghai Shenhua a 3-0 defeat as Fabio Cannavaro's side moved into third place in the Chinese Super League standings.

Alexandre Pato also found the back of the net as Tianjin moved two points clear of Hebei CFFC and into the final qualifying place for next year's Asian Champions League.

Tianjin are eight points behind league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande, who maintained their position at the summit with victory over Shandong Luneng on Saturday.
