Postecoglou must commit to Australia amid Shanghai Shenhua links - Slater

CEO of the FFA, David Gallop believes Ange Postecoglou wants to coach week in, week out which may suggest he could leave the Socceroos.
The FC panel caution Australia not to underestimate a gritty Honduras side in the intercontinental playoff.
Socceroos star Tim Cahill leapt to the defence of Ange Postecoglou, whose future is far from certain.

Speculation Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou is set to attract a big-money offer from a Chinese club has sparked a call for loyalty.

Former Australia international Robbie Slater urged Postecoglou to see out the World Cup campaign despite reports Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua is set to offer him a AU$3.8 million deal.

"No, you don't go there [China]. You're national coach, you stay until it's done," Slater told Sky Sports Radio on Tuesday.

"It's big money. If you're that good, you'll...

Shanghai Shenhua reject Carlos Tevez reserve talk, but tell him to try harder

Carlos Tevez was left out of Shanghai Shenhua's two previous Chinese Super League games.

Shanghai Shenhua have rejected reports Carlos Tevez has been banished from the first team, but did challenge the forward "to show the real stuff."

Tevez has struggled to impress since joining Shenhua from Boca Juniors in December, having scored just three goals in 13 games.

Shenhua chairman Wu Xiaohui said last week the 33-year-old's form "didn't meet our expectations," while he has also been booed by his own team's supporters.

Tevez was left out of Shenhua's two previous Chinese Super League games,...

Carlos Tevez: Chinese football won't reach the top - 'even in 50 years'

A double from Hulk led Shanghai SIPG's rout of Carlos Tevez's Shanghai Shenhua side.

Shanghai Shenhua striker Carlos Tevez has launched an attack on the capabilities of Chinese footballers, claiming those playing in the country will not be able to reach the top "even in 50 years."

The Argentine has spent the last nine months in China after joining Shenhua on a lucrative two-year contract from Boca Juniors in January,

"In South America and Europe, players learn to play football when they're kids, but not here," Tevez told SFR Sport. "So technically they are not very good.

"Their...

CSL: Hulk, Wu Lei each score brace as Shanghai SIPG close gap with leaders

Hulk and Wu Lei scored twice as Shanghai SIPG crushed Shanghai Shenhua 6-1 on Saturday evening to close the gap on Chinese Super League leaders Guangzhou Evergrande to five points.

Carlos Tevez was on the scoresheet for Shenhua, who saw Gus Poyet resign from his position as head coach at the start of the week, but the Argentinian was unable to stop a rampant SIPG from notching up a convincing win.

After a goalless first half, three goals in four minutes just before the hour mark from Hulk, Wu and...

Shanghai giants enter derby in differing moods as SIPG seek Shenhua boost

Guangzhou Evergrande fell short in their epic comeback, losing 5-4 on penalties to nine-man Shanghai SIPG.

The buildup to one of the most hotly anticipated Shanghai derbies of recent times could hardly be more different for the two sides.

Shenhua, fresh from parting company with former coach Gustavo Poyet, are in need of a result to turn around a rapidly declining season. SIPG, on the other hand, come into the game having secured a place in the AFC Champions League semifinals. Though they were forced to endure a gruelling 120 minutes in the oppressive heat of Guangzhou just days ago to seal that achievement.
